Can you actually with a clear mind tell me that he went there because of the Kuwait invasion 15 years ago and he was worried that Sadam might attack our country. I've heard lame excuses for this invasion, but those two top the list. Now tell me while we are still there, Sadam is gone. Let me repeat, Sadam is dead!

can you actually use your 65 or so years of human experience to tell me that a man's past is not going to factor in how you evaluate what he is likely to do?

no, i don't think anyone thought Saddam would form a front and attack us in a conventional war, no military on this planet could talk itself into doing that. the most rational, and you have to agree with this, assesment was that Saddam would assist, develop, be the catalsyst for, ANYTHING to hurt this country. his army was dessimated so the most logical thing for him to do would be unconventional. i personally think he destroyed the evidence.

OT?:
i made my assistant principal look like a fool once (actually more than once - lol) when i was in HS. he saw me smoking, SAW me smoking outside after lunch. that was a big no no. he could see the pack outline in my pocket and dragged me up to the front office and as he stepped in to the principals office ahead of me i put the pack in my underwear, as i sat down in the office chair i slid the lighter in my shoe. he told the principal what he saw and he was licking his chops because he "knew" i had those cigs in my pocket. i put up a little resistance when they told me to empty my pockets for dramatic effect but oh the face he made when i dog eared my pockets was so priceless!!! i wonder if this would work on a larger scale....

Boy are you in for a big surprise. I guess you've not seen the destruction done to that country. Here's where we put our money where our mouth is: If you can prove to me, when we leave (if ever) that country is better off than when we attacked (not including the Sadam removal, which is debatable in itself) I'll send you a crisp 100.00 Bill, and visa versa you send me one, Deal?

hmm, it will prob be a few years off but ok, i'll bet.

my only condition is that if we do the cut and run dance the bet is off because that will then put us in a position of indefinite occupation with smaller numbers of troops. if the new strategy is executed with full backing of the public and politicians i'm very confident we'll see a better Iraq.

How many years? Please don't tell me we've got another Viet Nam here~LOL~. I probably don't have that many years left, if your talkin 10-20 years, the bets off, if your talkin 2-3 years, deal! Hell,. they couldn't spend enough in 2-3 years to rebuild what we've destroyed! Heres my prediction: Bush stays in Iraq till he's out of office. 1-3 thousand more Americans die. The Democratic president elect comes in and is handed a mandate by the American people to get out, it takes 6-12 months to clear out and Iraq is a bombed out shell of a country with a civil war raging, dragging the rest of the shia-sunni into the fray, GW Bush will go down as the worst president in the history of the country and the treasury will be flat out bankrupt. Not very positive, I know, but it's closer to the truth than the rosy scenario you guys are preaching, hey I hope I'm wrong, but this Idiot Bush is too stubborn to quit, and we can't win! I'll be expecting my hundred bucks right after they start the pullout.

3 years is fine, i can send it to your "retirement community" as bingo tokens if you like. lol

i don't have a rosy picture at all, i just think it's going to get better. those people have a strong history and if they pull together they can do it.

The strong History is a history of Hate for one another. Sadam was the bully that could keep them from each others throats, now that we've killed the only control factor in the area, It's on, the "holy" war between them is raging, thanks George. And the retirement community thing, don't bet on that, I'll probably be dancin on your grave~LOL~
