Okay, I think I might have a decent idea for changing the color of weed.

I was reading up on changing the color of pot via food coloring (or Kool-Aid).

These are the things I discovered

  • Roots in soil won't abosrb color
  • Injecting with a syringe into the stalk could/would kill a plant because of the burst of pressure
  • People have used Kool Aid with a hydro setup, but that won't help us soil folk.
  • You can stick a harvested stem in food coloring, and it will soak up to the bud. But it will taste like shit when you burn it because of the build up.
So I have an idea that might not be so bad.

I thought "What organic material has natural dye?"

What if you took a stem, with bud on it. Stick the stem part in a cup with crushed blueberries? (and a little water to dilute it, making it easier on the plant).

The bud should absorb the color, and maybe some of the taste. It end up tasting like burning a blueberry, but that sounds better than the chemicals in Kool-Aid or food dye.

Does this sound like a decent idea?

It's that whole, "Why climb a mountain" thing...because it's there!

I love weed. It really is perfect. I also love green, it's my favorite color.

But I also love fucking with stuff :-P

just leave it, if it was meant to taste like blueberries it would already.
You can use molasses or Botanicare's sweet to bring out the natural flavors but that's about it.

so youre planning to wait til its ready to harvest and then do this? like harvest a branch with ripe bud on it and then let it absorb some blueberries for a few days? haha no harm in trying i guess, but realistically it probably won't work lol

I'm actually planning on using my free sample of Botanicare's Sweet Grape, and molasses!

lol I'm actually going to do it after harvest, before curing. Just a small branch stuck in a glass of the blueberry mixture. I only want to try it on a gram or so.

haha i might give it a go with some watered down strawberry juice
I wouldn't try juice, because of all the processing. I'd find some very ripe strawberries. The kind that would stain a white shirt, mush them up, and enough water to make it into a very red liquid. Try it! It's gonna be awhile before I can try.

yeah that's what i was thinking also mulch them up strain out the pips n then add water till its almost water i doubt it will change the colour, but will alter the taste id say i think colour would require a lot longer than id like to keep a bud on life support lol

you gonna post in this thread? if not drop a link to some pics sharpie

Even if it just changes the taste, it would be pretty cool. Like I said, it's gonna be awhile before I'm in a position to try it...if anyone else wants to, feel free! :-P

I picked blueberry because it seems to have more color staining ability than strawberries. Plus there is already some red in the hairs, you might not notice the change. Still, like you said, it might make it taste nice!

Really? Sounds interesting!

I came up with this idea because someone (I'm bad with names lol) on here pointed out, during a discussion about flushing nutes, that it's mainly done for chem nutes. That something like molasses or Sweet Grape might not need as much flushing, because it might not have that chem taste. So thats why I figured make it as natural as possible, and it (at the worst) will just taste like burned blueberries :-P

I was thinking, if bud I get between now and when I harvest (via some friends) is still on the stem, and relatively fresh, I might try it with that. Kinda bring the bud back to life with blueberry water, then let it dry again. That sounds less likely to work, but it at least I can play around with the idea well before my harvest.

I luuuuuuv Kiwis.

I'm a somewhat unhealthy eater. I love my bacon, and cheese...but the topic came up "What would your Death Row last meal be?" I realized I'd want a shit load of fresh fruit, like kiwis, bananas, peaches, pears, etc.

I'd think that would be more of a taste enhancer, making it a bit sour (in a good way) than a color changer.

A blend might be nice. Taking a fruit that has a strong dying ability, and a complimentary fruit with a strong flavor.

Like Kiwi and blueberry combo.
