omg if i kill another seed, im going to kill myself-please help!

So I'm on my 5th seed now, and these were very expensive. My first seed I grew in a smaller container I built myself but light kept getting threw and grew a lot of algae. I bought a 5 gallon bucket and set seeds inside 2 root riot plugs and set them in the hydroton with a divider. On just died I think the other is close to it also. I removed the dead plant and root riot plug and refilled my bucket with clean water and just set the remaining plant in it. Am I over watering or under watering? The water level is pretty high. It Is touching the base of the root riot plug but only a smal plant has grown so far. What am I doing wrong? The algae infected plant grew so much faster, I'm thing I'm just over watering. The plant is about 12 inches from 2 40 watt grow bulbs. Please help, if I can't get to the 2nd week I'm seriously going to commit suicide and star in my own movie, "sometimes dying once isn't enough"

You need a root system before moving the plug over. In the interim of developing a root system you should follow the directions of the plug. If it says damnpen and squeeze out most of the water, then put in a tray with 1/4 inch of water at the bottom and dome it. Then that's what ya do.. You can't introduce these plugs into your system until you have enough roots hanging down from the plug to get enough oxygen. Otherwise when you sit the plug into your hydro system it will fill with water and kill your little plant. So over watering, would be an understatement.

Thats what i was thinking eazy fix

Now can I use like a glad wear tub, a small one and place the plugs in there with a quarter inch of water? And just sit it under my grow lights?

Please link me to the hydro method....right now I just put 3 root riot plugs in a gladware container with a quarter inch of water in it. I set the plugs on top and closed the lid and set them under the grow lights. Is this a good method?

Keep the seed warm, I like to keep the germination cups in my flower room under my HID.

I actually meant to follow the directions of the plug mine are different and I don't sprout seeds even close to this way you should follow Hobbes. I run no medium anymore I was just trying to help with why they were dying as I have killed my share that way

Oh and not to close to the lamp temp is way more important you gotta be careful getting more than 80F with seedlings and small cuttings. That is of course depending on strain but seriously 3 of 4 of my strains are little sissies indoors..

try not to over think it or over care for them its a plant you cant rush it
