Operation: Smoke in the Closet

Alright, so I want to grow some Marijuana, I have a friend who can get me seed and I have a closet that is four foot, four inches tall inside, 22 inches deep and 16 inches wide. I want to know what my options are, and if it's possible to grow a plant inside that closet. I'm not incompetent so I should be able to use your advice well. I'm planning on reading through the forum too, I want to make the best of what space I have.

Thanks for your time.

Yours truely,

Hello Mr. Closet,

If this is your first grow, I recommend looking into a CFL grow (using Compact Fluorescent lights) .

They produce very little heat and are simple to use.

You will need 3 - 3 gallon containers, soil, perlite and 4-8 42 watt compact fluorescent bulbs (they sell these bulbs at Walmart and homedepot for 5-10 dollares). You want the bulbs that are 2600-2700 lumens.

You should consider purchasing some seeds on line. I recommend MANGO seeds.

MANGO is easy to grow and produces large buds on short plants. It is very rewarding.

You will make a 30% perlite/ 70% soil mix in your 3 gallon pots. You will start with 3 plants. This will insure that you get at least 1 female. Males do not produce BUDS.

Mango's a nice smoke too, pleasurable, tasty. Good choice Knowm, you've brought back some nice memories. My mouth is literally watering with nostalgia.

Don't forget hitc, in a cupboard you'd be better off using flourescents as the heat generated by the big lights is often too much to exhaust. Heat is a by-product of the light that you must exhaust. If you are able to leave the cupboard door open this is ideal as a way of keeping the temp' down.

Hi Mr. Closet..

I found this picture on the internet. It is a very simple set up .... AND I thought you would appreciate IT....

and maybe get some ideas from the set up.

It is not a CFL set up but it is a simple fluorescent set up.

This set up keeps the lights close to the plants and surrounds the plants with lights on 3 SIDES!!!!.

It is a great beginner set up that will produce a gratifying yield.

Well, I'm not sure those lights would fit in my closet, and I don't think I could raise three in there, maybe two small ones or one slightly bigger one. I could install small vents in the closet, and I did read something about at CO2 generator using yeast on this board too. What I'm aiming for is something less than 4 foot tall and less than 3 feet wide in plant size, with minimal alteration done to the closet. The two holes for ventilation in and out could be no more than 6 inches squared each. Anyone got any ideas, I gave the measurements of my closet in the first post.

Thanks for your help so far guys, I'm appreciating it greatly.

This is what I have to work with, observe the picture. I don't have a light yet, but basically, that's the space I have. I can make a hole to feed in cables and for a vent to dump air outside through my window, I've been thinking of sealing the edges of the closet with some glue so I can make it airtight as the door is actually pretty much airtight as it is. Any one build anything in similar dimensions?

you need some ventilation in there, do you have any sort of mini-desktop fan you could put in there atleast on the plants to get them to grow a little stronger, it's going to get hot in there unless you use CFL's aswell.

Yeah, I can easily get desktop style fans for ventilation, I have about 10 lying around, though I'd like to keep the heat down, what lights would work best for me? Remember they have to fit into the dimensions I've given you guys. Hmmm... From what I've been told a 4 foot plant would produce 3 pounds, but I think that's an overestimate, any of you guys got any clues about that?

3 lbs is stretching the imagination a little bit. well, rather a lot actually. I'd look at getting 1/2 oz per plant that way if you get any more you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Ok, so I want to start growing b/c im tired of getting some bs going around that is dirt or just wont do anything for you and tired of wasting my money on it. I have about a 6x2x8 closet to grow in. I want for personal so maybe about 2-4 plants and how much should I be expecting and help me get started please.

Also I wouldn't grow only for personal use. If sell some grass you can upgrade your growroom. Start out cheap with some cfls and get a fan in there too. Then when you harvest, you can get better stuff like hps lamps. I would move the grow to a better location though. You could do your first grow there but then you should move it.

Id go with the new t5 set up with a space that small it will produce the same amount of light as say a 175watt hps and with minimal heat, you'll get the best bud with the most amount of light in minimal space good luck bro!!!
