Opinions on my garden plan.

So I plan to go out soon to cut out my garden in the bush. I'm going to be going deep into a swamp and clear cutting everything in a 50x50ft square. Once that's done I'll be putting down 30x30ft of hay bails to make a platform off the water. Once that's done I'm either going to put down clones in the artificial soil cubes or put a good layer of soil on the hay, I can't decide which is better. Well so that's basically my garden plan, and all this stuff is going to be carried in by hand no quad or anything.

So if anyone has any tips or thoughts on it I'd like to know before I go out there and do it so I can avoid mistakes.

sounds like A TON of work. the hay will stick out from the air, i would do pine straw but either way you are asking for bugs.
also sounds like a large spot, plenty of people do large plots like that but i like to keep mine more around 15x15, if that. and have several spots. that way if things don't go well in one spot i have several others to fall back on.
overall i guess it sounds ok.

ya thats a sight for soar eyes if your in a helicopter anywhre near your property, i nicely cleard 50x50 spot.....way to big

I don't have to worry about helo's well at least not piggy ones, then again shouldn't risk it with this type of thing anyways, maybe 5 10x10 plots spread amongst this massive 300 acre forest try all the different areas and soil types and what not.
Anyways as for the amount of work that's not much for me, I live out in the country and do things like that everyday and the fact that I'm jobless and have lots of spare time on my hands it'll be nice to have a time sink like this especially one with a nice reward ;)

P.S what do you mean by bugs? Would there not already be bugs in the forest? Or in the swamp for that matter?

holy fuck thats a lot of work. I would strongly suggest not putting all your eggs in one basket. If something happens to that one spot (if someone find it and steals or destroys your plants, deer eat all that shit, pests, flooding, etc...) that you spent so much time on, your gonna feel really sad. How about you divide your efforts into 4 smaller spots?

5 10x10 spots sounds much better.

hay and pinestraw are great for bugs to live it.
i don't have a job right now either (hopefully that changes Monday!!!) and i just finished preepping my plots, all i have to do now is bring the seedling out and transplant them.
carrying those huge bags of soil up and down hills, through the brush, accross the creeks is a PITA, it wore me out for sure.

hopefully it will all be worth it in the end.

and if a civilian helicopter sees your plants, not much is stopping them from calling the local PD and saying that they saw some plants near XXX and XXX coordinates.

hmm well since it's going to be in the swamp I gotta have the hay to raise the plants off the water when they start. From what I've been told by people who grow around me using the same methods is that the roots shoot down through the hay and into the ground and you get 10ft tall plants if you do it right, and that you don't have to water due to it being in a swamp or nutes for the same reason.

The dirt is going be the hardest part I'll agree, I'm thinking about making a backbraced carrying system like what they used to do for water on the long stick like things? Anyone ever tried anything like that?

Get yourself a quad, makes life so much easier.
I have a quad, foreman 450 with mudlites, I can't bring that anywhere near my plots though because my treads are very very recognizable and tear the shit out of dry ground even. I was thinking about driving it up to the bushline with my trailer on it and just hand carrying in the dirt 2 bags at a time, it'll be a bitch but the reward will definitely be worth it. :)
