Organic Seed Starter

I've transplanted from a 4" pot of compost/peat to a 3 gal pot of Coco with no issues a few times. I usually use whatever medium I have cut with 50% perlite as a starter and throw them in Coco after two weeks.
 
Sprouting Seeds
  1. Soak seeds in pure water overnight in a dark cool (not cold) place.
  2. Take paper towel and fully saturate in pure water, fold seed(s) into towel.
  3. Seal wet paper towel in a sealed bag or container in a cupboard or something.
  4. When seeds develop “tails” about an 8th of an inch long, you can plant them.
  5. Fill your cups or little pots with planting medium. (I use coco or coco/perlite)
  6. Mist pot once or twice per/day with pure water until sprout becomes a few inches tall before feeding fertilizer.
*Careful to not drown seedlings, only mist the pots once planted until established*


I use the above method but with only coco. Start to finish. The seedlings do not need a "starter mix" you really do not need to add nutrients until the seedlings are a few inches tall and established. Pure water and just coco start to finish is going to be your best bet. I use Root Riot starter plugs which are also made of coco and never add nutrients until the seedlings are established.
 
Or you could skip all those steps, put seeds in medium, water them to runoff and set/forget.

I put these seeds in medium five days ago. Took 2 days to pop their head, three days later they are all good. I find all these excess steps futile.

I won't need to water the ones in the 2 gallon pots for a week or two. Was watered to runoff when the seed was dropped, and can guarantee they won't have any issues. If you properly aerate your medium, it won't drown.

Just want newbies to know that you don't need to make it some convoluted science with all these steps, towels, misting and shot glasses of water, you can just plant them in medium, wet it and go.

Plant, Water and go! I agree the amount of steps can be tedious but most newbies don't have luck planting seeds directly into medium.

I swear I'm on a different planet sometimes lol. Getting seeds to germinate has always been by far the easiest step for me. I've actually had far more issues germinating outside of medium. I must be retarded as every time I use something like a root cube or solo cup, I have issues, yet I've seen people grow 2 foot plants in a solo. I wish I could do that lol..I just don't know how to water a small container for the life of me, literally.

It seems like I can only grow using methods that people say don't work here.

I wanted to take the solo challenge, but I wouldn't be able to keep it healthy for a two weeks lol. I'm on the opposite foot to everyone here..
 
I like to place my seeds into riot cubes and add 5mls of bottled water to the tops of my riot cubes. Then place them under a dome with a seedling mat and check them daily to make sure the cubes remain moist.. I have a high germination rate with this method. Don't over think the process. Water is the key to triggering a seed to germinate. Good luck! I'm germinating 10 seeds right now.

(4) Purple Ice Water (Bloom Seed Co)
(2) Frozen Fruit (Dungeon Vault Genetics)
 
Coco and worm shit. Light nutrient charge 1-1-1 and seedling safe. Ideal pH. Jumpstart a healthy root structure and plant vitality. Helps keep the coco hydrated longer to ensure sucessfull germination and pre-emergence.

My brother just planted 12 seeds and they all failed. :eyesmoke:

He put them right into solo cups of coco and they did not make it why I don't know too busy with my own grow and he doesn't like admitting his failures.

I've heard that a lot here lately, up to 20 seeds dropped, and not one germinated. I gave a mate three cherry pie auto seeds, and three super silver haze seeds. Not one popped somehow, in cut down solos of peat/vermiculite.

I've got three red skunks autos (Venus genetics) and a Supa freak X frost breath reg that just popped (the above pic) and he wants a few seedlings so I'll pop another three and sell them off at two weeks.

I'm regretting giving him $70 worth of seeds right about now.

Some people do not have the touch for it. Some things can seem super simple to one person and be near impossible to another person depending on schedule, physical ability etc.. I have a friend who to this day cannot get more than 50% success rate with seeds or clones when I've been getting 95% success rate. I Might have 1 seed out of a 12 pack not pop or grow shitty where I pull it after it sprouts. He's ordered packs of seeds and had only 1 or 2 plants pop where he can't even get in a decent pheno hunt.
