Hello again!
It has been a while, and my last journal was an epic failure leaving my spirits dampened... Needless to say, I am back at it. This time around I have upgraded equipment however. For those of you following any of my previous grows you would know it was pretty basic. I will be posting pics of everything tomorrow so all I can do now is describe how it is. I have a 2x4x5 veg tent with a 4ft 8 bulb 400w t5 fluoro light on yo-yos. Air is circulated with one oscilating fan near the intake and another whole room air circulation fan pointed toward t5/tops of plants near the side vent. The air is pulled out of the tent through my 400cfm hydrofarm inline fan which is connected to a y splitter and hooked up to both tents, also on a thermostat to kick on when it gets to anywhere above 75 degrees. I also have a portable heater inside the grow room connected to a thermostat as well to come on when the temperature reaches anywhere below 70. I am using fox farm happy frog base soil and have an amended super soil i made following subcools recipe as well. In the first few weeks of veg I use straight base, then I transplant into a container with about 50-60% super soil and the top layer happy frog base mixed with sand and perlite. I had been messing around with ph strips at first then moved onto a milwauke, both are garbage in my personal experience. I eventually ended up spending an excess of 100$ on a hydrofarm ph meter. It is much more reliable. I ph my water to 6.0-6.6 using 100% lemon juice. Currently I have 5 bogs sour bubble seedlings(one of which is a mutant) in small clone pots and one ace of spades clone in a ten gallon pot(its in the process of being mainlined) all seedlings are going well however i have noticed yellowing in the lower leaves of my ace of spades, as well as burnt and curled tips, brown areas on the leaves. Only on the lower leaves however, not sure what is happening but I suspect it was either over or under nuted and possibly a bit over watered. I transplanted it last night into a ten gallon with 5 gallons of super soil in the bottom of the pot so we will see how that goes. I will post some pics I managed to take of the leaves i pruned that are damaged. When they are ready for flower I have 4 40 gallon pots and 3 20 gallon pots in the 5x5 under a 400W hps (really nice hortiluxe eye bulb) air cooled and vented outside through carbon filter and inline is in a sound dampener. Also everything is vented using insulated ducting, was alot more expensive and such a pain in the ass to cut and work with but worth it because it is virtually silent when running.
