Our First Time Growing

This is mine and my husbands first time growing, and we would like to share our growing with you. We started them by throwing the seeds down in planters and let them do their own thing. We originally had 6 seeds and 4 had sprouted. We are now down to 2 as the other 2 died in the early stage do to weak stock and they bent during a heavy rainfall and snapped. So the following pictures are the only pics I have taken of them so far but will keep everyone updated on how they do. We have also just transplanted them into 5 gallon pots so I will be taking new pictures soon. If anyone might have some helpful tips that would be greatly appreciated. We are planning on keeping these as outdoor plants, until they are ready to start flowering and then bring them in..

are you really gonna take advice from him?! ^^^ ... try some LST, i think it's better than FIM'ing or topping because the growth doesnt get stunted

What is LST and FIM mean? LOL. We do want smaller bushes but not too small. we want to keep them round 3-4 feet tall as they are in our backyard

LST is when you tie down the tops so they are bent over. the side of the plant will get more exposure to the light and will grow bushier. you will end up with more top buds this way. and by tying them down they stay shorter.(make shure not to bend too much at first and to tie it a little at a time to make sure not to snap it!)

well topping is when you cut the very top leaves that are just starting to grow at the stem so that the plant focuses its energy on the bottom of the plant so it grows bushier, and the top will eventually grow to branches instead of the original one. I assume fimming is along those lines somehow because whenever i read about one of those techniques i hear something about the other so i think they go hand in hand.

They look good. I too would top them. Makes them like bushes with many colas instead of one large cola and tall. Just cut the top 1 or 2 nodes off.:peace:

now when should we do that? are they big enough to be done now or should we wait a bit longer?

Yes you can cut the top off anytime, just go donw below that first set of leaves cause there looks to be only 2 sets there. They look really stretched, so just take the top one off. You mentioned you take them in to flower? I am confused there.

i wouldnt top yet you should wait for one more node at least , but he is right, they are streched! do you have them hidden in the garden somewhere? are you able to put them out in more direct sunlight for longer periods of time?

You might find he is a she.

I was going to top mine but I have 9 plants from seed and hope to finish with 4 or 5 females. my concern is that if I top them, I will need more space and have to spread my light over a wider area, therefore, loosing luminance.
What do you think?

Sorry to intrude on your thred chikeeta.

Ya actually I looked again, there is only 2, so wait for a few more before you top.

PS. I am a she, lol.

i think tieing them down or LST makes them look stupid as hell. top them it stunts growth for 3-4 days before you can see it started , i topped mine about 2 weeks ago and they are already getting bushy

well my husband wants to take them in when they start to flower because he thinks they would do better. what would you suggest? when should we bring them in before they bud or are they best outside?
