Hi all,
I have done a few successful indoor hydro DWC SCROG grows (single plant yielding 5.5 oz under 250w HPS in a small cupboard) and one successful outdoor LST grow (single plant yielding 9 oz) using a 10 gallon storage tub as a pot with peat & perlite as the medium & feeding with worm casting, guano & molasses tea.
I am thinking of converting a collapsible carport into a greenhouse for my next adventure in the Spring, largely for the discretionary value. I've been doing a bit of reading on carport greenhouses, particularly Doublejj's works & I suspect the gabled roof is better for installing an extraction fan for those hot days and late flowering to help get the humidity down a bit.
To avoid constantly making teas again, this time I want to plant the girls in the ground each into a 4' diameter hole x 4' deep filled with a mix that allow me to only water them as required.
I found the following recipe, but as am inexperienced "in-the-ground" grower, I would appreciate some feedback.
1 Bale sunshine mix #2 or promix (3.8 cu ft)
8 cups Bone Meal - phosphorus source
4 cups Blood Meal - nitrogen source
1 1/3 cups Epsom salts - magnesium source
3-4 cups dolmite lime -calcium source & pH buffering
1 tsp fritted trace elements
4 cups kelp meal.
9kg (25 lbs) bag pure worm castings
- Mix thoroughly, moisten, and let sit 1-2 weeks before use.
So would it be ok to mix in a 44 gallon drum or similar and then leave the mixture to sit in the drum for the 1-2 weeks? Or should it be on the ground?
