Outdoor grow in UK - advice needed

About to start my outdoor grow of Buddha White Dwarf strain. All my grows before now have been indoor grows so this will be my first outdoor grow.

This is an outdoor grow in UK.

Any of you guys got advice based on experience? Or advice you've come across?

Any help and tips would be great,

Thanks

Peace

I'd start it inside under some decent fluoros( is that correct spelling? :) ) until they are relatively established. UK weather can be a little harsh on little plants as it can change so drastically from day to day, even in summer.

we grew this blueberry last summer outdoor in the Uk (southeast) she was heavily topped due to height/security issues and chopped a wk or so early and she still yielded just over 5oz.

read up on blueberry its spose to be a very fussy strain etc but she done just fine outdoor last summer.

she was vegged to a decent size indoors under a blue 250 cfl and fed the full range of bio-bizz nutes.

nice grow m8! got any advice for a new outdoor grower?

Gunna be growing in soil not pots. Probs wont use many nutes as soil is fairly furtile already. I already have liquid organic nutes for the indoor grows I've done so will probs use them.
I've mixed some good grow soil (from bag) into soil I'm going to be planting in. Should be a good lil patch for the babies!

Anyone know whether or not I should start it indoor for a bit then move outdoor? Or sow straight into ground after soaking and germinating (on moist kitchen towl etc)?

if you got a cfl or hps light start them indoors defo, gonna grow from the ground not pots? cool, are them seeds you got auto flowers?

yea cool I got a grow room for my indoor grows so will start them off there.

Yea I'm only doing autoflower for outdoor - Lowryder #1 and Big Buddha Automatic.

Hi reggae, I would plant in pots if I were you. Especially as your doing auto-flowering plants, they don't grow for that long or get that big so I very much doubt they will grow better directly in the earth. Sure for regular plants which have the time to let their roots grow down and reach the natural water table, but I really don't think autos will get chance to develop such a big root system.

With pots it'll be much easier to manage the plants individually, the soil and drainage will be better too. There will be less chance of infections I'd imagine as well. Plus in pots your plants are very easy to move should you need to, for whatever reason (even if it's just to put them in a better spot for sunlight).

Although I guess it depends on where your growing em. If its in your garden pots for sure, but I suppose if its a guerilla grow where they might get easily spotted then planting them in the ground will attract far less attention.

Watch out for rabbits and deer if its somewhere where they are likely to be. They seem to like nothing more than eating mj plants ;)

maybe I will reconsider putting in ground - it is true I will have more control over location, feed etc...

However, do you not think that by putting them in the ground they will grow bigger over the limited time they have? Also in terms of nutes, they potentially might have all they need right there in the ground? Perhaps I will split the grow both ways - a few in the ground, a few in pots...

Hi Tank, Thanks for your post.

Yea it does make sense to grow in pots, though my reasoning for not doing that was:
1. If in ground, less attention will need to be given in regards to nutes (this may be completely wrong!) as "treated" ground (i.e. ground I've prepared with liquid nutes and prof soil already) will mean the plants have everything they need
2. Size - thought the plants may grow bigger and produce bigger and better bud if they have all the space they could want, even if they only live for a short while
3. Cost - I'm on a budget and filling multiple large pots with prof soil is costly. And the ground is free :-D

What do you think? If I were to grow in ground, do you think I have prep my ground enough (i.e. with nutes and prof soil) and what tips would you give for planting out? How do I keep away pests? (snails, bugs etc)

I am starting them all off indoor in the grow room and going to gradually introduce them to the outside world.

Thanks ppl

Man, this is something i am worried about. This is my first grow in Europe and i never had to worry about that before and now my yard has plenty of bloody rabbits and the other morning we spotted a deer, rabbits i think i can stop but those deer are big bastards and would probably destroy any fencing.

Assume the deer will find the plant and much it to death without fencing.

A four foot high, two foot wide cage, anchored with stakes will help.

ive read a few times to keep dear away use fishing gut all the way round your grow area at 1ft of the ground then run another one directly on top 3ft of the ground, make sure it is all pulled tight so it wont fall down,,
it is supposed to scare them away because they cant see it they havent got brill eyesight and when they walk into it they feel it on theyr leg and neck and the run the opposite way hopefully lol,, hope that helps....

Hey so my grow is well underway... Just one quick question - is it too early to put them out???

Its raining on and off at the mo so dunno if that goin to be a problem... Also the temp aint that great atm...

... What you guys think?

Cheers

hey bro sounds good. I am also doing a sim grow and trying to figure out when to put them out. not scientific but gonna just wait untill the stems look a bit more like chunky motherfuckers cuz right now they look like they need to man the fuck up, eat eggs everyday and do some weights and shit

dont want my little children to go and get battered on their first day of school

Hahaa true say man... But the prob is is whether or not they'll man up in the small pots they're in?? Not the most ideal setting for them.... I wanna move them into the 10" pots now but not enough room indoors - any suggestions??

Peace
