Outdoor growing indoors?

So I have an idea with a shed that i have with dirt floors.

Can I plant them directly into the dirt but use led lights for the lighting? since it’s in the shed there will be no sunlight.

Is there any benefits to planting into the ground vs a pot?

Has anyone done this before?

I suspect in ground will be better, even if just for the extra height you can utilize.

I would assume planting in ground would be different on the nutrients?

Just make the environment suitable, from temp and humidity and air flow, to properly amending the soil, just like setting up a tent.
