Outdoor stretching?

Hey everyone, I have a few plants that I started around June 25th or so. It's been a few weeks, and some of them are really stretching. THey have been strictly outside - and admittedly, in Jiffy pots - relatively large, but still what one would think of as a standard jiffy pot - they're looking decent, except for some stretching - could the roots have an issue with this? The roots haven't shown through the bottom at all, and I'm transplanting them into the ground this week, but why such stretching? A couple are very leggy - it's my first grow, and for future reference, what could be the problem? If someone needs more info let me know -

The plants are stretching to ensure that any growth at the nodes will have room to make a decent cola. Stretching is not a negative thing outdoors, so leave the plant alone. You gotta remember, you've been growing mj for a couple months...mj's been growing itself for thousands and thousands of years.

I do take care to straigten them out - but as a follow up, when I put them into the ground, would it be advantageous for me to bury some of the stem(a la tomato plants) into the ground? I won't go crazy with it, but would it benefit the plants or no?

i would just say put them into a 20 gallon pot or so, then you can always move them into the sun as the day progresses, i have found that in a pot the soil stays moist much longer therefore watering it less.

Haha, no Moxtox, they're not...I met them one time at their hotel...Inspectah Deck is a pretty nice guy, but Method Man is a bit of an ass.

heya. if you bury the bottom part of the stem when planting them in the gound, the plants will just grow roots from that part of the stem, so your streching problem will be solved a bit, it'll also make it more stable, strong, so on. its a good idea, i always buried a good part of my stem when i had plants that stretched. i never had any problems. and they're stretchin to reach the light so ensure they're in a sunny spot
