Overkill ?

Have a 4x8 tent with two plc 6.2 with 5 purple punch, 3 sundae drivers and 2 white fire og( amazing lights). Just bought a hlg 550 because of the sale they are having. Too much lighting in one tent? Might just use the hlg in Veg room

Ideally 32-50 w per sq ft

The hlg 550 seems to smash it on 30w/sq-ft and has to be hung high. I ran up to 50 for abit and after a few days started foxtailing bad, mines a mix of cobs and boards though so different intensity’s

I would use the newer more powerful and efficient QB fixture for flowering and the older tech lights for vegging. The HLG550 can be used to replace a SE 1000w bulb without loss in yield. With an additional light on each side it would cover this area pretty well. You can also spread the boards to get better coverage. For white light you can use a lux meter app to set up the height/distance from canopy to get almost the same brightness across the whole area.
Or you splitt the area and use the QB's for one half of the tent and the older lights on the other side.
