Overwatering?

Hey all, first grow here and ran into my first hiccup. Germinated 5 Pure power plant seeds on the 28th 3/5 made it.

I think I over watered when I saturated the cup for the first time but watering seemed to be becoming more frequent so I thought I was maybe under watering. So after coming home from work and finding them wilted one day I gave them more water than I usually would have and they never bounced back, just stayed droopy and even today they seemed to wilt more and the cups were light like they eere thirsty. Any ideas?

Edit: Medium is 50/50 Happyfrog/pearlite

Hi Jordan,
Many over watering issues are related to compacted soil that doesn't allow drainage. Should be porous enough to get runoff when you water.

But looking at your RH...that is the top number there right? 32% was it?

I am just learning about vapor pressure deficit. It can get complicated and not sure if this is the spot for that. But you don't need to have a complete understanding. Just recognize that there are correct levels of RH related to temp in which the plant will thrive. You are outside that range and need to bump up humidity. On the chart I uploaded...just try and keep it in the green.

Also persist with your water efforts. It takes practice...

The low humidity can cause water to evap from soil surface too. You can just use bowls of water to create a little micro-climate.

Their situation might be improved by up-potting to the next size up...about that time.

Yeah it’s hard for me to get humidity up. I’m in the market for a swamp cooler, I have a friend that uses one in a similar setup and maintains anywhere from 40-60% rh depending on what it’s set to.

Transplant was on my mind, I was hoping to see them recover from this before I transplanted them though, I am seeing roots out of the bottom of the cups for sure. I’ll just let them be and if they haven’t recovered much by Monday morning I will transplant.

If the cups are light it is a wilt. You need to bottom water if this is the case. When soil gets over dry it shrinks and becomes hydroscopic and sheds water so you can get run off and not get water to the core. If they are heavy, you need to add aeration elements at transplant.
 
Hey guys quick update. Transplanted them from solo cups into 5 gallon pots yesterday. Perked up quit a bit, one of them still being fussy.

Pics are before and after. About 24 hours apart.
