So the NSA spying program is only concerned about terrorism right? Think again, not only do the agencies share the information they are told after receiving the information to "recreate" an investigation to obtain the information given to them legally and by no means tell anyone where the information originated. The farce is called Parallel Construction. SOD The unit of the DEA that distributes the information is called the Special Operations Division, or SOD. Two dozen partner agencies comprise the unit, including the FBI, CIA, NSA, Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Homeland Security.




A secretive U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration unit is funneling information from intelligence intercepts, wiretaps, informants and a massive database of telephone records to authorities across the nation to help them launch criminal investigations of Americans.

Although these cases rarely involve national security issues, documents reviewed by Reuters show that law enforcement agents have been directed to conceal how such investigations truly begin - not only from defense lawyers but also sometimes from prosecutors and judges.

A former federal agent in the northeastern United States who received such tips from SOD described the process. "You'd be told , Be at a certain truck stop at a certain time and look for a certain vehicle.' And so we'd alert the state police to find an excuse to stop that vehicle, and then have a drug dog search it," the agent said.

"PARALLEL CONSTRUCTION"

After an arrest was made, agents then pretended that their investigation began with the traffic stop, not with the SOD tip, the former agent said. The training document reviewed by Reuters refers to this process as "parallel construction."

Well, see that is the problem. The NSA is feeding the IRS, but not to collect. That would really backfire.

No the use it to slay opponents cred and sway elections. When they do, like Bush-Gore and Obama-Mitt, well, we see it is getting increasingly ugly. The more ugly it gets the more WE don't like it. The Light of Knowledge kills scum in this country.

You can get away with any nefarious activity as long as you type " How can I love Obama more?" or "Obama is the greatest president evah!" into your google search. It will cancel out all the dissention.

A dozen current or former federal agents interviewed by Reuters confirmed they had used parallel construction during their careers. Most defended the practice; some said they understood why those outside law enforcement might be concerned.

"It's just like laundering money - you work it backwards to make it clean," said Finn Selander, a DEA agent from 1991 to 2008 and now a member of a group called Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, which advocates legalizing and regulating narcotics.

This isn't the point of this article even if it's true, this isn't about an illegal tap here and there. This is about agencies like the NSA standing before congress and American people promising they don't perform the practices knowing damn well they do. This is about an operation so dirty and pushing the constitution so far it has to be covered up in every event, from the people and from the legal system. This is about dumbass liberal hippies that need to actually combat a cause worth two fucks, instead of stupid shit like GMOs and going after guns that account for less that 1% of the problem.

Did you not read all of it? The practice is to cover up where the information was obtained from both the justice system and the people. They're pushing the limits of the law and even they know it.

im right with you on everything nontheist. i think we need a MAJOR revolution in the country right now. problem is too many are apathetic, are uneducated about the problems, dont understand the problems, and think what the gov't is doing is ok.

so as much as i want a revolution, i dont see it happening, i think we are pretty fucked.

So we now know the NSA lied and is sharing information on non-terrorist activity to other authorities while commanding other agencies to cover it up. What should we do about it libtard? 2 before the patriot act that some guy named George got passed. We would simply ask our allies to spy on American citizens and pass the info on to us or we would route electronic communications out of country and back in so we wouldnt need a warrant
