Partial Harvest

Hi guys, this is only my second grow- I planted both at same time, white window autos. One appears to be about ready to harvest (nearly 11 weeks since planted seed), I want to take top buds off and let underneath develop more but not sure where to cut as don’t want to ruin the other parts? Leave it. That bud is still in like, mid-adolescence. Many weeks to go. A large majority of the pistils should be brown before you even think about it. That bud has the potential to increase significantly in girth and denseness and would be a pretty weak buzz atm. Hold out several more weeks, friend.

But, yes, you can harvest the top and let the lowers continue to develop.

Ah ok thank you, I’m obviously too eager lol.
When ready do I just chop main stem beneath the top buds and leave the rest to develop?

Minimum 3 weeks. @DeadHeadX is right, that will be a mostly leaf disappointing smoke. You can take a tester bud if you want to test yourself but I would think small racey buzz, harsh smoke, and a headache without more time.

How to cut is up to you, whole plant, branches, or even bucked straight off the stalk, I've seen them all. Drying room will be a big factor. Cut just below where you think she is ready for a partial harvest.

the plant looks nice. Lots more trichs will form. Lots of potential for a nice chunky buds there. Keep checking here before you chop if you’re not sure!

All of us were too eager at some point Or we fucked up our grow and took them to save something. Either way premature buds are disappointing. Although the funny thing was, back in the day, i chopped early and yeah i got high, but it could have been much better i learned with restraint and patience.

Thank you all for your help, I’ll leave them for now and be patient!
I accidentally broke a small branch off on the weekend and panicked (before I read about saving it and trying to tape it back on) so I dried the buds out in the microwave for a few minutes ( I thought fuck it I may as well instead of crying) and despite it being a bit harsh it was pretty good, so I’m looking forward to the fully developed bud

The "funny thing was" my premature buds were better than the schwag I was getting from my dude up the road.

Next time, avoid the microwave. Chop the test bud into small pieces and leave it for a few hours or overnight, or perhaps under a light. Much less damaging than the micro. And definitely tape branches back if you can! Amazing plant! Good luck.
