Passport from USA to Canada???

Hey yall, i was thinking about taking a trip to Canada. Do I need a passport to go from Michigan to Canada then back to Michigan?
this may sound like dumb question, but I could of swore I heard that you dont need a passport to do it. That was also a long time ago. Thanks much

you don't need a passport to cross until jan 09'. That's land crossing. If you plan on flying you'll need a passport.

oh, and since they've given more funding to the dept of homeland security they have alot more agents roaming around, and they're stopping americans crossing the border on the american side. So make sure you're clean as a whistle. Some are cool...others will pop your trunk and go through your shit. This is only at the Windsor/detroit border. I couldn't tell you about sarnia.

i dont think so, the border is more strict now, well going into US is but coming back (live in canada) they welcome u back in, all i needed was a drivers license, or birth certificate
