PC Stealth Box --- 1st Grow in It!!

Hey guys what's up. For the past couple days I have been gathering enough information to start my project. What I am trying to accomplish is to make a PC Grow Box, that I can grow a plant in for around a month maybe two, until I can transplant to my friends basement storage room. I want the plant to be able to grow smoothly, so that is why I am asking only the best, here at rollitup.org ..... So, I have rewired an old computer fan for an exhaust fan in the computer. Its a bit noisy so maybe I'll find another one. I used a 12VDC fan, and rewired it with an RC Car charger that puts out around the same voltage. So I have that complete, now I'm trying to think of what I want to line the inside of the box with. Tinfoil? Some sort of white plastic reflective item that is easily obtained. I am just trying to use as many household items as I can. I realize that other things would be better, but im wondering if some of these things would "just work". So could I line the inside with the shiny side of tinfoil? Also, which type of lights should I get, and how many. I am sort of broke right now and I just need this to get things started, but I could maybe go out and buy some nice little flouresent lights. If I were to do this, any suggestions of what to get and where to get them? Also, I am growing ONE plant in here, maybe a tiny bit into the vegetation state. How should I setup the drainage and the soil pot? Would it be a bad idea to cut off the bottom of a 2-Liter soda bottle and fill that with soil, poking holes in the bottom for drainage? Thanks for the suggestions. I need the simplest ways of doing this. Also, what is a good plant that will stay somewhat short (my friends storage spot will have a height of around 2.5 - 3 ft. , so it will have to fit in there (the finished product). Thanks again!

By the way, once started, I will keep everyone updated with pictures!

** I was thinking about using something that is at least 50% or more indica strain for height. Also, I would like a very high potency with a good yeild. Thanks!

You should check out this place - they have a PC grow box and i see they added a speaker grow box (along with some other things). They are pricey but they might give you some ideas for a DIY project:
Sunlight Sheds Hydroponics Systems

Here is a great example of what you're building - they use a
50w MH bulb
2 PC fans (one in/one out)
a 2 plant bubbler
The interior is lined with space foil (or something like that) - mylar would be tricky to get in there without wrinkling it up - white paint might be better.

I wouldn't recommend buying one - but this might give you some ideas on how to put one together.

Thanks for the reply email. I know, no offense, but anyone who bought one, your plain stupid :) . Ok, well I have 1 fan that I rewired, and there is already a hole for the exhaust, so your saying I should cut another hole in the computer? Ok, and also, where do you reccomend getting the 50w MH bulb? I think Im going to use tinfoil for the inside, since that part isnt even necessary, it should get the job done. Thanks, keep the ideas coming!

Oh yeah, also... Does the MH bulb get hot or no? Is it also ok to get some CFL's instead or a tube along the top? Its only 1 plant....

Yeah I dont want any risk of anything possible. I am living in a house, still with my parents. Its not like there never in my room, there in here quite alot. My mom was actually taken a broken computer up into the attick or basement, when I said... "hey mom, can I have this computer for spare parts?". So.... yeah, Id have to be able to keep it in my room so I dont want any risks. Also, I was thinking... If I buy bulbs, how would I power plain bulbs? Does it come with some kind of fixture? Or are there any lights that have a cord that I can plug directly into the wall? .... Thanks once again.

Does Wal-Mart or Kmart or Target or any normal stores sell them? Would you consider checking The Home Depot as well for things like this? I just need to get another fan for an intake fan and than setup my lights, and I'm ready to grow!

their are a lot of diy's for cfl fixtures and light boxes on here, you can also just get reflectors with the little clamp things, they are in the work light section at home depot and lowes they work fine too
splitters are good too cause you can get 2 bulbs on one plug

Ok thanks for your suggestions. I just took apart another old computer, so now I have 2 working fans, and 1 extra I might use as another exhaust fan. I should probably use the stronger fan as the exhaust and the not-so-strong fan as the intake fan. Ok, I have everything full of tinfoil, all the fans are working, its just time for lights. I am just worried about this part. I dont know which to get or how many. I will stop at Home Depot if I can (dont have a license :p ) and check everything out. Thanks again! Oh yeah, also, I have some soil called "Master Grow". I looked at it and it said there were "some" fertilizers, so that should be good. It said it has the right amount of nutrients for starting plants, which I thought would be good, and if needed, I would add more. So far everything is working out. Any suggestions of how I would make something that could collect the water when it pours out, without taking very much space at all. Remember, I'm EXTREMELY limited on space for around a month. THANKS

it seems to me you need to read alot more on soil and nutrients also if you have a home dpot they sell Scott's Premium Pottin Soil which is really good shit I dont care what people say check out my journal if you dont believe me :) Take the foil out and paint the inside of the case white you can pick that up too at the home dePOT. just set the pots in a tray and check them every so often to see if there is to much water collection which you shouldnt be. also make sure to watch your humidity in that case but other than that well that all i can think of ATM. check out my journal

get some pics of what you have and what your plans are... people love pics... plus i dont think telling people you are 12 makes them wanna help you much..

1. i would get a very big computer case
2. get cfls from HD lowes or walmart ( put as many in as you can)
3. add ventalation (as much as possible)
4. get SEeds with LOW ODor. considering you will not be able to put a carbon scrubber in a pc case.. if you get a high smelling strain your caught
5.mylar all inside case ( for max reflection) your plants will need every spec of light those cfls put out
6. use height management teqn. LST Scrog flower early
7. read up on general growth, light paterns, plant essentials

First off, when did I say I was 12? No offence, but why the fuck would I be growing weed if I was 12? I know my shit, I've grown plenty of plants, just never this stealthy. And tinfoil isnt bad, I know white and mylar is much better, but tinfoil is what I have. I just never needed the same materials that I do now. Thanks for the posts, but keep them reasonable....

About the tinfoil, yes you could. I covered the walls of the grow box i made with aluminum foil and it seems to reflect the light quite well. I have three 75watt flourescent grow lights in there and my plants love it. The lights i got at walmart for like $10 each.
