Penalty if caught growing in Michigan

Hey, I am thinking about starting up my first grow, however I live in an apartment building so it could be kind of risky. I was just thinking about growing a few plants in a small grow tent w/ a carbon filter in one of my closets.
Anyways in Michigan (as in most states) the law states growing any number of plants as being a felony and up to 4 years in prison. I was wondering what you guys thought would happen legal wise if I got caught since I have a clean record and no priors. Would they most likely offer a deal w/ no felony on my record? Thanks for the input.

I am 23 and as I said I have no priors. I know on NORML it states that it is a felony and up to 4 years. I was just wondering if that could be reduced to a misdemeanor and no jail time. I don't know anyone that has been busted with that few of plants, but I feel like it would not be that big of a risk with such few plants and growing only for self consumption. Does anyone know of any similar cases and what the outcomes were?

A guy down the road a bit got busted with like 35 to 40 plants. He served 3months in jail then 3 months work release, and had helly court fines and a lengthy probation period!
Keep in mind I do not know the small details what happened, I do know that if you do not have a prior for drug use charge, or a rap sheet of petty crimes, It will be alright!

Be smart people don't get arrested for stupid sh^t.. Keep your brownie points for "in case you get busted for growing!" My 2 cents
