ph adjustment questions

hi i was wondering if all ph up and down products are the same chemicals. basically i was wondering if my Spa guard brand ph up and ph decreaser would work on my plants or will it kill them any help would be appreciated

As a short answer; no. They can be a number of different chemicals ranging from organic to purely chemical. I would not recommend using pool chemicals for adjusting your ph. General Hydroponics makes rather inexpensive PH up/down chemicals and they should last you for quite some time. I would say spend the 15-20 bucks on some horticultural ph chemicals rather than use something questionable and risk harming your plants. I rarely have to use my ph up. If you are dead set on not buying something to adjust your ph for ph down you could use an organic like lemon juice (although I know some organics cause problems in hydroponic systems idk if lemon juice would as well).
