PH calibration/storage - Need Help

I've bought a hannah instruments hi 98107 phep/ph tester along with some Standard Reference Solution from General Hydroponics. Two bottles, one with a 4.01 PH the other 7.01. Both bottles have details saying that they can be used for both calibration and storage, however, in the instruction manual the first step for "conditioning" the meter requies that I immerse it in Hi70300 storage solution. I'm confident the 4.01/7.01 general buffers will work and I won't need to buy the HI7007 formula or the hi70300 storage solution, but as far as activating the electrode (conditioning), do I have to now have to buy more solution or can I use the 4.01/7.01 due to the "electrode storage" use detail? Sorry if I've made any errors as I'mbongsmilie flying high, just wanted to see if anyone had experience in using calibration fluid for storage solution. :)
