ph problem

hi i use a bucket with 10l of city water/tap water with a ph of 7.4 from tap i leave to stand for 24hours with air stones in i then ph the water to 6.4 and retest a hour or so later and the ph has risen and keeps rising any ideas on this

Sounds to me like you have hard water. The minerals in hard tap water act as a ph buffer. RO is usually the best option.

That's no surprise! Both salts and dissolved oxygen can affect your pH level.
What solution do you use to lower pH? Some of them are not strong enough to keep your pH down. Don't be too strict about it anyway. Just adjust your pH and water! I don't see any reason to wait for an hour and retest!

This usually works best for me. I put my nutes in, test, then adjust/water immediately.

I've got some hard tap water. I use water juG's and shake them up big time. I got rid of my airpumps for fish just a couple years ago too x_x
