ph spikes????

What causes ph spikes in a bubler system I checked it last night and its 5.8 this morning its 7.5!!!!!! I only have seedlings so it is just ph water no nutes, what would cause this??

how is your temp of your rez. higher then 70 can cause ph spikes. Also did you chek your water prior to adding frts.

i have a floating thermometer but above 70 seems pretty low room temperature is 72, water temp is 70 do I need dry ice or something around the container ?? and there are no nutes i only have seedlings so just water for now

Room being at 72 shouldnt be a problem, check your rez though. 70 is idea. I do not think you need to use a cooler if your room temp is at 72. Where is our rez located in comparision to lights or other products that put out heat. I would use a product called Propogator for seedlings, or at least a vitam b product. Even seedlings need food just not much. I use propogator because of the huge root system it creates. Gives plants a huge head start on life. Roots are where they get their food from, right. The better the root system when you start the better off your plants will be. As for your PH problem, if it is not heat then is you or was your system clean when you started, also what type of meia are you in. Some rockwools will have high ph, that is part of the reason you soak them first and let them dry out partially.

i am using rockwool and hydrotron its hasnt spiked up again yet but I will be checking it every couple of hours

no I didnt and I think that was the problem I checked the ph after I watered thru the top of the baskets I think my hydrotron wasnt clean enough water is ph'd now i will just top off the water by removing a basket just in case
