Picking mushrooms

I live in the midwest and am currently going to school where there is alot of farms with cows. I was wondering if there are mushrooms that grow in the shit. I have no experience with growing or picking mushrooms of any kind. I always just buy them from people because I used to live in the city. So my question is can I go and dig throw shit and find shrooms??? If so is there a certain temp. I should get them at? Are they safe to eat after a good cleaning? ect. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have friends who do that once a year, usually in the fall if I remember but the thing is a majority of the wild mushies out there are deadly, some are edible and nothing will happen, and others make you trip. I never risked picking random ones just because I dont know enough about shrooms. To really know what you're getting you'll need a spore print and compare it with what it should look like. I dont know if mushies in shit are always ok or not so....good luck

Sure, go out there after a good rain, preferably in the morning, and look for mushrooms growing on or near the cow manure. That is your best bet. They should be large, white/brown, with pointy tips on the tip of the cap. A great indication is when you squeeze the mushroom stalk, the stalk bruises and turns purple/blue. Post the pics if you find any :)

im in the middle of making some tasty shrooms actually. i would love to post a picture when they are done. i still need 15 more days of colonization and then the shrooms will start to grow grow grow! im in the midwest too but it's like -30 here!

Exactly what conditions need to be meet before I can go and pick the shrooms?

If some one can tell me the conditions I will go and pick some shrooms and post some pics of them.

temperature - can't get below 60 at night, most potent when it stays in mid 70's

humidity - has to be humid. If it ain't humid, you can eat 20 of them and barely feel anything, whereas if it was say 95% humid, 4 of them would have you in the best trip of your life. Humidity is the potency.

Water - has to rain and rain and rain, more rain the better although floods aren't good.

The shrooms your looking for are called cubes and it's extremely hard to mistake them for a death cap. They are pretty much the only things that grow out of cow manure so your pretty much set. The others that grow are stuff like liberty caps, which aren't even close to as potent as cubes but will give you a different flowing trip, and cyanescans, which... lol.. seriously potent.

will the ushrooms actually be griwong out of the cow manure or are they under the poop? Or are they growing every in the field were cows are? thanks rush26 that really helps out.

cool thanks man now I just have to wait for it to warm up around here. I hate this cold weather and I think we are supposed to around 7in. of snow tonight to.

Cow pasture after rain. They grow pretty much everywhere. I once bought a grow kit though and it waayyyyy better....fuck they were good...30 shrooms and I was soooo fucked lol.

Wow, I can't believe you people actually eat mushrooms that grow out of cow feces. To me, that's fucking disgusting-what's wrong with you people??? Just grow your own!!!

thats cool, my buddy actually just got permission from this old farmer guy that said we could go and pick mushrooms in his cow pasture, now I just have to wait for it to get warm.
