pistil color question

I have been working with afwreck It is afghan x train wreck
The trichs are what I use mainly along with the false seed pods to
determine ripeness but I have found the hairs stay white until harvest
and after dried they then turn orange. I have never ran across this.
Any of you run across this before. The weed is for sure ripe.

You possibly might be getting some regrowth? Do you notice foxtailing if you happen to have the more sativa phenotype?

That does make sense because some of the hairs inside were really orange telling me although I could not see them they were way ahead of the others. Buried under the new growth.
Thanks.

When it comes to foxtailing its a natural occurence for sativa dominant plants. Not a bad thing at all because when it starts to occur its an indication that your harvest window is coming shortly.

Cool, I tried to upload a pic but I`m sure you already knows what it looks like.
Very helpful.

Just a fair warning there are some on this site that if you do not post a picture you get grief from it. But hey stick and stones might break your bones but names shoudlnt hurt ya :-)

In some strains the pistils don't recede or shrivel up during the growth, you'll first see that when you start drying.

I've grown strains which haven't changed pistils colour nor receded at all yet the calyxes were fully swollen and trichomes were mature.
That's why you never go by one telltale sign, you need to take them all into account.

So I'd recommend you go by swelling of calyxes and the state of the trichomes and the overall look of the plant.

I grew a blueberry and the entire time every pistil was white until harvest very weird to me but smoked very nice its was 100 percent ripe with about 80/20 cloudy amber

The plants in those pics look like they have a ways to go,all the pistils were white. I usually go more by the pistils and overall look of the bud for indications of ripeness. I know most people look for the trichome color but Ive found that when the pistils turn orange/brownish and lay flat is around the same time the trichs start changing colors anyways.
