Planning first grow, grow room questions

Hey guys,

I'm planning to grow a plant just for personal use in the attic above my room (only access is through my wardrobe!). It's a fairly large area, with no windows and as far as I can tell is sealed from the outside. I wanted to know is it necessary to grow in a cabinet or can I just grow it anywhere in the attic provided the temp and humidity is ok?

Also do you think the smell would be an issue with one plant? The attic space only covers one section of the house so the only gaps through to the house would be a couple of light sockets. I live at home so I can't let the parents find out.

They wouldn't be held responsible if they have no knowledge of it? And besides the laws here are pretty relaxed, wouldn't get in much trouble unless I had loads of plants and evidence of dealing.

You need to perform a lot of research about lighting first of all, then you need to understand ventilation.

Kudos on wanting to grow, but your time might be better spent directing your parents to information about the positive benefits of marijuana, of course learning them yourself

Do you live in U.S. of America? If so, you might want to pay attention to the propaganda on TV.

I don't know the laws there, but what I do know is that if it wasn't my property, I wouldn't ever put loved ones at risk. (I know I'm hated for this attitude, but oh well).

Thanks, yea I have done a bit of research on ventilation and I know it would help a lot but i'm not planning on growing massive A grade stuff and theres no way I can modify the house. However there just happens to be an exhaust for the bathroom right next to it which could be used to draw in fresh air from below or exhaust air from the room. If you can grow in a wardrobe surely I can grow in a massive room, maybe put a fan up there to circulate the air... As for lighting I'm thinking about a decent CFL set-up.

No I don't live in the US. If I thought I was putting my family at any risk I wouldn't be considering this.
