i got it a ph/moisture/lumen meter for about 8 bucks at home depot...what's the best way to use these moisture meters? fill it up to wet then wait till it gets to dry then fill it up again or maintain it somewhere in the middle?

and i've been using schultz 10 54 10 bloom nutrients but i just bought some miracle grow tomato plant nutrient that is 18 18 21, would it be okay to switch nutrients on every watering?

i'll start a journal soon i just haven't got pictures yet.

also i haven't been able to find ph up and ph down but i remember people saying that they use two pretty much household items to raise and lower.... i think it was baking soda and vinegar or something, some one please verify that for me

wow , slow down if every thing is good you don't need up or down just take it slow ,the little you gain by force feeding is usually burnt away by nute burn

ok lots going on here... first of all the ph/moisture/light meter is no good for ph but ok for the other two ! always wait untill dry to water the roots need to get air too! look for shultz 10-15-10 its 4 bux and i use it from start to finish starting with 1 dopper per gallon working up to 4 droppers per gallon during late flower... i have never even taken my soil ph and tap water is neutral so i never ph that either im lucky.. pet shops have ph/up and down for a few bux each and water dechlorinater if your tap water has a chlorine smell to it..get ph test strips while your at the pet shop they are fairly acurate to get your base established...hope that helps cant wait for pics!

Although this turned out to be a male. I have another one going, i think it's female (not really sure, i'm new at this shit). Anyways i started a grow thread, check it out in my signature. I plan on starting one every 3 weeks = every three weeks i get 14 -28 g's of some good smoke... i grow 12/12 from seed... check it

Vinegar for ph down. one cap full per gallon will move it about a point down. give or take. And baking soda for ph up. A tablespoon per gallon only makes a small difference. So I hope this gives you a starting point.

how critical is pH? I know that if it's way off it will kill the plant, but does it make that big of a difference for quality and quantity? I use tap water that has sat out for a few days and its low in minerals and it's neutral. I add big bloom, tiger bloom and beastie bloomz to the water.
just be careful when "guessing " ph levels ...1 point the wrong way could kill the crop:(

yeah... i do the same thing, minus the fert./nutes... i haven't ran into problems... don't know what the pH is though...

I haven't' had problems. Just curious how much better it would be if I did monitor the pH and adjust it accordingly. The nutes I mentioned above work great during flowering.

ph is just another link in the chain of good pot! if the ph is right you plants can absorb food and water better therefor they grow better ..for the most part your plants will "tell" you when the ph is off , by slowing growth or changing colors or worst of all dieing:( if we can get all the things the plant need as close t0o perfect as possible than the results will be close to perfect!
