Plant pot size

Could I get good growth out of a 10cm deep by 20x20cm wide pot?

That is about the same cubic area as I use, I would be more comfortable with more depth, some may say that size is fine. I use 3" rockwool block so 4" (around 10cm) would not be my choice. VV
