Plants and the Beach?

Ive heard that plants do not like the salt air.... Has anyone ever grown successfully on or near the beach?

i lived on the arroyo river that is a salt water through fare for ships from the gulf and now live just min from the beach in the coastal bend and never had trouble...........

What about people in the same kind of climate as me here in Hawaii.. Like in Cali or Fla?..

check your map brain im on the same parallel line as so. florida 90deg at 90% humidity

i currently live in florida and salt air has never affected an outdoor plant of mine

i would think growing in Hawaii would be awesome, the warm air, rich volcanic soil!! some growers would give the world to grow in those climates/conditions

Guys im talking about growing on a beachfront property with salt air blowing directly at it all the time...
