Please check my plan

Hello my friends,
Ok this is my first post so I know some of you veterans will probably not reply. That’s ok, I have been watching the boards lately and I understand that a lot of “noobs” get repetitive with the same questions. All I want to do is reassure myself that I am going to do everything correctly so that I do not blow my cash and have no bud.
First I will tell you my situation. I am 22 years old and own a house on a farm that my brother, dad, and I run. I love smoking mj and I am tired of the hassle to obtain it. Since I already grow corn, soybeans, and wheat, why not grow my own mj? So I finally talked myself into it. The problem is the summer is almost over so I have to grow inside.
Now my plan. I have already acquired seeds. I bought a few feminized The Church seeds and got some California Hash seeds free with my order from Attitudes. I also have a few seeds that my friend is going to give me. (Supposedly good shit, but who knows). I plan on buying a 400 watt hps grow light, ballast, and timer. For soil I am going to either buy potting soil or go across the road to my bean field and just get some good black dirt. I plan on getting some sort of fertilizer. Germanize the seeds under 24/0 light for a few weeks until they have 3 or 4 sets of leaves. Hopefully I will not have any males or hermies but identify and cull them. Then place under a 18/6 light regiment until my beauties get 2 to 3 feet tall and change the light to 12/12 for flowering. Then I guess I wait until the pistol has swelled? and bud is ready for harvest. Cure and smoke. I don’t plan on selling any. GREEDY!
I had plan on growing it in a closet but, I was told the even a few plants will stink my house to holy hell. I live in the Midwest and our winters get pretty cold. I have a storm celler that would be a perfect grow house. But I figure it will still be to cold. Any solutions?
I have researched growing mj for the last couple weeks. I mainly just read the riu boards daily. I would like help from anyone and if you see a problem with my plan or just want to offer any tips please do.

i vegitate my plants on a 24 hour light cycle... all the way until flower. IMO, it gives you a stronger plant and gets to flower faster. are you going to veg. the plant under the hps or do you have an additional light source? and try foxfarm nutes for both veg. and flower. good luck

I see a flaw in your plan, you must of told your friend that you are going to grow if he is going to supply you with seeds. First rule of jail free growing-Tell no one, how is it going to help you?

depends if he is a good friend its ok but i wouldnt tell anyone else be careful even when going to grow shops loads of people are having there gear nicked they are putting trackers on the cars or vans best way of ordering is internet use a different address though always think ahead. good soil to use is cocco fibre i have tried loads of different soils and found this to be the best. also your cellar i think that would be better for you i would buy a 600 watt light i dont think it willbe to cold them lights through off bear heat my room gets to temps of 99 f 47 humidity and im in a brick shed hope your grow goes well good luckany questions please feel free to ask thanks widdow.

Why does even a good friend need to know? There is no good answer to this other than a desire to have your ego stroked when you produce some good bud and your friend says 'good shit man'.

Well my friend grows a few plants so i trust him. I would rather stick to a 400 watt because of energy cost. Also the celler is very old. Would humidity be a problem?
