Okay RUI, I've seen some good seed germination techniques here, but many of them involve things like rapid rooter, ph testing your water, etc. In an effort to help out people with little to no experience/capital, I've decide to share my fool proof meathod. This was passed to me by a friend who sells and decided to guess and check for speed, effectiveness, and budget concerned growers such as himself. Here is a list of what you will need:
- Access to clean warm (not hot) water, even tap water will do at this stage
- Access to paper towels
- Access to a small kitchen tupperware container
- Access to a standard coffee mug
- And of course access to seeds
1. First thing you need to do is gather your materials.
2. Fill your mug with warm, not hot, water.
3. Drop your seeds in the warm water for one hour, wait till complete before continuing to step four.
4. Dampen (almost to the point of wetness) one paper towel with warm water.
5. Place the paper towel in the bottom of your tupperware.
6. Place your seeds on top of the paper towel.
7. Dampen another paper towel the same as in step four.
8. Gently press the other paper towel on top of your seeds (do not squeez water out of the towels.)
9. Close the lid of your tupperware.
10. Put the tupperware in a room that is 73 degrees or warmer (a garage works in spring or summertime)
11. Check after 24 hours. Check every 12hours until your seeds have a taproot of desired length (at least .5cm is good enough)
12. Plant your seeds in your desired grow medium and begin the rest of your grow project.
The idea is to close the lid and store in a reletively warm environment to cause humidity inside. Germing is 100% with healthy seeds, and usually shows after 36hrs depending on seed quality.
