Possible Job Oppurtunities After Proposed Changes to Med System

So I'm thinking to myself about what chances an experienced grower might have if the changes proposed by the conservative gov't actually go through and personal cultivation is phased out?

There are bound to be enterprising entrepeneurs in this country who will be seeking out greenthumbs to make their "business" succeed. Don't be shocked when the predictions of sky-rocketing prices come true though; just look at the medical scene to the south of us...

A big part of me just screams out: FUCK IT! Stay outlaw! Why does the gov't feel that they even have the authority to criminalize/legalize/decriminalize this beautiful, beneficial plant. Don't try to tell me that it's because cannabis is an intoxicating substance, so are half the items in my spice cupboard.

I sincerely hope these ridiculous proposals don't go through, the people it will hurt the most are the people who need the medicine the most.

experienced growers will be needed by the commercial growers and I know of a few that are upgrading their security and fire prevention plans on their locations so that they can grow commercially. But the big thing is trust. If you put all that money into upgrading would you hire an experienced grower that you did not know? My suggestion is to have a profit share scheme in place paid out to employees each year so long as the company doesn't get ripped off. I think it's a good idea.

But as you point out, the laws may not happen or they may go down in burning flames when the next federal election happens. I am not a fan of trudeau as he is all over the place with only a few solid positions. He said he would do full legalization. Does that mean an end to the medical cannabis program in Canada? I'm not sure what it means but the media is saying if he is voted in as the liberal leader he will beat harper. We just don't know do we...2 years isn't that far away...

For what it's worth I say grow outdoors in small numbers all over the place until the next federal election if you're not going to go legal. There's less risk for you if you go that route in my opinion.

Im not looking forward to the multitude of jackasses that made their cash in real estate and are just looking for the next booming industry to throw their cash into. And they know nothing about cannabis. Not the science of the plant or the horticultural knowledge to grow it. Just money.

Don't worry there is a lot out there that will loose out. If not on the boards, I will form a website that Lets People come in and Rate Their experiences with their current commercial suppliers. The site will allow for pictures to be uploaded of their bud, and express if it is satisfactory or poor quality.

Of course some type of verification would have to be made so some “troll” or comeptitor just doesn’t start to post lies to take down another person’s company, but yet in the same a fair rating system.

People think they are just going to jump in, I think not.

in our society, even farmers go to school to get an edge in their industry
once cannabis is legal, it's in the system
university and college grads will be the ones with the tools to push the science and lead the industry


though despite all that, I personally still prefer a good ma-and-pa source to any big industry
and I believe that once cannabis is legal, the mentality it brings will have major effects on infrastructure over time
and most people will be growing their own anyway.

basically all I think will change are the number of cannabis users in legal trouble/damnation, and the plant will be free to be explored fully

I like to think cannabis by nature is similar to wine or spirits. In these industries you have big commercial wineries/distilleries and also niche companies that can still compete. Wine science is offered at my university but that being said small wineries or distilleries are commonly opened by folk who just love the product (having a nice chunk of change to invest helps too). I don't see why cannabis will be different. Wherever you have particular, sophisticated consumers you will have specialty producers who cater to these demands that mass production just cant satisfy.

Im a die hard supporter of our cottage industry. There are very few industries left that havn't been taken over by big business. Cannabis is still something you and me can start, learn, work our fucken asses off and get ahead. We must keep it out of the hands of big business and keep it in the hands of small producers. Thats what I love about the Canadian system.
