The TDS-3 website shows it reads 0 - 9999 PPM. I am inclined to believe it is a four digit readout. A simple test would be to mix a small batch of nutes strong enough to get a readout over three digits and see for yourself. You can then further dilute your mix unitl you are at the right PPM.I have a TDS-3 meter and am not sure how to read it. It states it reads from 0-9999ppm however on the screen I am getting a reading of 124. Does this mean its really 1240ppm or actually 124ppm?
I agree. To check, measure distilled water (0 ppm), then tap water (around 250 ppm depending on area), and then a small glass of straight nutrients or ph up/down solution (high ppm in the thousands). By the way, im pretty sure yours means 124 and not 1240. Especially because i've never heard of a ppm meter/pen rounding instead of giving an exact measurement. The TDS-3 website shows it reads 0 - 9999 PPM.
