Preflowering, flowering outdoors Northern Ca

I've read several different thing, that preflowering is just a plant maturing, but it has not begun to flower yet. I've also read there is no such thing as preflowering, that it's just the start of flowering.

I have 3 plants outdoors, and within the past week am seeing the white hairs. It just seems to be too early. Although it's been a few years, I don't recall flowering happening until end of July/early August. Reason I mention this is because they are in 7 gallon pots, and I was considering moving into bigger containers. If they are indeed flowering, would this just be a waste? I've heard the roots stop growing once flowering begins. If true, wouldn't that mean aside from the stretch I wouldnt get more size/yield by transplanting at this point?

I’m in NCA as well and my outdoor just started showing a few white hairs. Im in 65 GAL. I wouldn’t say they are in flower but kinda showing sex. I’m still learning so wait for some others to weigh in on if preflower is a thing cause not 100% sure.

65 gallon? Holy shit!! I've never gone bigger than 15 gallons. But yeah, still wondering if this is the actual start of flower, and if transplanting at this point makes any difference. Don't think they are rootbound yet but starting to need watering every few days

I’m in NorCal too. White widow is in pre flower. Should see flower clusters starting in just a few more weeks.

Post a picture for a better idea. It’s bad if they flower early (I have had them just sit in this wowed in between stage) but from what I understand a few pistols in July is okay. Here’s where mine are at…been in the 65’s for 1.25 months and outside for over 2 months now but I did have some lights on them for an hour or two in May when they 1st went out. GL
