Preparing coco

Hey people.

I'm trying a coco grow for the first time and I have bought plagron coco bricks for my first try. When looking st the site it says its already buffered with calcium but I thought the idea was to buffer it with both calcium and magnisum.

Will this be OK or does that mean I should buffer with just magnesium or buffer again with calmag?

If anybody had ex
Any input would be appreciated!

I mix a batch of low ppm nute solution with a little calmag and my nutes. Like 200ppm or under and that's what I soak the brick in to dissolve it. After it's all dissolved, I stir it up and make sure it's good to go. I then drain it and test the ppm and pH. If they are close to what the nute solution was, I proceed with planting. If they are still way high, I rinse the coco however many times I need to to get it down to what the nute solution is. I've tried bagged stuff and cheap bricks. The cyco bagged stuff was decent. The cheap bricks took so much time and effort to get them washed and buffered. Not worth the minimal savings over the Canna brand bricks. With the canna brand, I soak in the solution, drain and give em just a quick rinse and they are good to go. Just picked up more this weekend.

You should still wash and buffer yourself. I hydrate with water ph to 5.8 with a double dose of calmag. Then fill pots and run ph 5.8 water until it comes out clean then water heavy with double dose of calmag at 5.8ph. Then you can add perlite or use as is.

I was looking for somebody with the canna bricks in the UK but couldn't find it but now your saying they are class ill see if somebody can ship them.

My tap water is 300ppm I was advised I can add a dose of cal mag to it and then soak and it would be find but is sticking to 200ppm essential?

Thanks for that, when you say comes out clean you mean visibly clean like clear water out the bottom or clean as in ec and ppm?

No, 200ppm isn't essential. I just mix up a weak batch of nutes with a little.calmag.

Both, once it comes out visually clean you can test to see what the ec is at. You want as close to what’s going it.

Sorry, going in it? So I want it close to the EC of the feed I'm going to be aiming to attain that week?

I know its a ridiculous question but I have no clue about coco..

Whatever is coming out of the pots should match or be lower than the ec or ppm of the solution that you are pouring in. At that point, your coco is rinsed.
