Prescriptions that interfere with my herb buzz...

I've never had anything interfere with smoking bud until a couple weeks ago when I started 2 new meds from my neurologist.

If I smoke, the side effects are extremely exaggerated, and I've been smoking herb for more than a decade. Worst dry mouth ever, dizziness, extremely tired, paranoia I never experienced before, and lots of other weird shit. Prickly feeling across my face (both sides, especially the cheeks) that burns really bad.

So I stopped taking 1 of the meds called Nortriptyline, which is a tricyclic antidepressant used for treating nerve pain...and things returned to normal with my toking, so I started taking the nortriptyline again and the side effects are back.

Looking up tricyclic antidepressants and cannabis, it looks like they don't mix well.

So do I just ditch the nortriptyline and not tell my neurologist, or should I tell him about the interaction? I don't tell medical professionals I toke anymore because I've had more than 5 doctors change the way they view me after I tell them cannabis helps....they think you're a druggy if you smoke pot, no joke. Some of them are religious and are just so heavily biased it's counter productive to even bring it up with them.

This is from a Grass City 2009 thread...a response:
"dude i've been having the same problems.
the solution i came up with is that im just ganna t-break until summer (june 25th for me).

my problem is that for the first 10 minutes of my high it'll feel amazing like it used to, but then it'll (without any trigger) start to take a turn for the worse. I'll be feeling great and then all the sudden without my control i start to feel sick and naseous and dizzy, possibly because of my vision becoming irregularly vivid and yet shaky. I can't enjoy shit and my inner dialogue makes me almost silent.

i'm hoping that it's not cause i'm on Nortriptyline. anyone know if nortriptyline can affect highs? i use it at a pretty low dosage for my migraine headaches/chronic fatigue.

i hope things get better for you man. i'll tell you how the t-break goes."

Others may be able to tell you 1st hand. I do think some anti-depressants will affect the high in different ways...IMHO.

Weird shit, I'm also on another anti-depressant for "stop smoking pill" called wellbutrin. What a clusterfuck. Just kinda scary when pills interfere with herb. I'm also on steroids to weaken my immune system and a bunch of shit that makes me like a fucking meth addict, wired, jittery, all the time. I sleep like 3-4 hours per night for past 6-7 weeks.

Also on anti seizure meds (trileptal), nerve pain meds(neurontin + nortriptyline), hydrocodone, steroids(prednisone), life sucks, especially now that I can't smoke my herb (which gives me an appetite and helps with the headaches/migraines). The trileptal has been a life saver but the rest suck. Hydrocodone gave the worst fucking hemorrhoid :o, sorry just venting at this point...

I wonder if Metedate CD has any adverse chemical effects when used in conjunction with Cannabis. I've noticed a less intense, lower duration high.

Steroids...don't want to scare you but my daughter got this from steroids:
pseudo-exgenous Cushings...look that one up! Never heard of using Wellbutrin for stopping smoking.
Neurontin + nortriptyline never helped me for nerve pain...neither did Lyrica nor Cymbalta.....juvenile diabetes since Feb 1954!!!
So what works for me...HASH and it works better than herb for some reason...maybe my body chemistry...who knows?

Good luck with the aches and pains.

maybe try amitriptyline...it did make me sleepy tough. I took it for migraine prevention and pain management.
Also tried Lyrica but made me kinda stutter.

GrowinTheDank, it's normal that it's shorter and less intense since Metedate CD is a stimulant (Ritalin or methylphenidate)

On another note I've found Edibles work great for anxiety. Hash works great for pain relief and energy. and a strong indica works great for pain
