Pulling Apart a Light

I have 400w mh/hps conversion setup. Its a Hydro farm reflector hood with the ballast attached. Was wondering if anyone has tried to pull these apart to move the ballast into another room and just add a new reflector? Im sure i would have to splice some wires but just curious if anyone has opened one yet.

these are very simple-

two compartments. one holds the reflector and bulb, the other the ballast, capacitor, ignitor, and switch(for the conversion).

three wires get you out to the light. ground(green, for the reflector), hot(black), common(white).

if you aren't mechanical, with a bit of electrical background, do some reading first.

happy growing.

Thx for the input. Ill pull this thing apart this weekend. I hadnt realized the heat the ballast put out since this was my first lighting system i had ever bought.

Its pretty simple. Just disconnect the mogul from the project box which can be found by undoing the phillips screws behind the socket. Just buy a lamp cord and connect the black wire to the black wire, the red wire to the red wire, and cut the loop on the green cord to the set screw on your lamp cords mogul socket or reflector.

Or you can wire in a popular reflectors brand female recepticle so you dont have to lop the heads off your reflector cords
