Pumps 24/7

Looking to do aeroponics.. are all pumps rated 24/7?

No, and the poll is mossing an option.

Heats up your reservoir.

Piece of advice....
In aero, buy two of everything.

pumping 24/7 will soak everything so you might as well be doing flood and drain, NFT or DWC etc..
You can buy one of everything as long as its good quality and upto the job.

I think it depends on the application being done. I run a planned 24/7 aero, as my plants are also used as a filter for my water, and I can't run those other systems because of my worm beds under the aero.

As well as aero (even low pressure) aerates the water without any extra pump, where dwc really needs an air pump....i use dwc because 24/7 aero spray would be closest in comparison to that, now if you are talking high pressure aero thats a whole nother beast with so many options you could get the right pump and nozzle and run 24/7 and maintian the perfect air to water ratio......

good question. i have read some about each and in the aeroflo2 directions it says 24/7. makes sense, dwc is submerged in w ATER CONSTANTLY SO I DONT SEE THAT BEING A PROBLEM. THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF o2 in the rail so we going to think u dont have to worry about enough O2 to the root. pump adds heat to res and so will the pump that is pushing thru the chiller. how much heat? some. get a good enough chiller and u will never notice the heat from the pumps. insulate your res and shade it from the light.

now why people have it on timer? because they probably havent ran the pumps 24/7 before. not having them 24/7 is creating a hybrid system out of a somewhat hybrid system. i dont think a hybrid is going to get better results, not as good i would imagine.

i suggest trying both ways and see what works best in ur situation...

im going to play with both ways only if the first way i try dont do well. if it not broke dont fix it.

DWC probably wasnt the best analogy 24/7 pumping with aero is like flooding an ebb and flow setup right after its done emptying. The plants would cope but they`d be much happier with fewer floods.

I have my pump running 12 hours a day because with 24/7 the reservoir gets too warm. I also have a aquarium air pump that helps.
