ok well I have got my seeds and all my pots ready with the soil mix. I got most of my grow cabinet built today. I still have to install a carbon filter, inline fan, the light, and a fresh air intake with a fan, but I got the hard part done. I have lined part of the inside with reflective house wrap and will do the rest of the inside after I get the other items installed. Yes, i still need to put doors on this cabinet. Let me know what you guys think so far. I will try to update pics as often as possible. I know this may be a little ghetto but I am kinda on a tight budget and I have very limited space. As you can see, I got a light that will cover just about as much square footage in this cabinet as possible. Yes I know HPS would grow better but i thought T5's would be better for the confined space because they produce much less heat.0630001936b.jpg0630001936.jpg0630001936a.jpg0622001713.jpg0630002039.jpg0630002004.jpg0630002038a.jpg0630002038.jpg

Nice cabinet. I like it. Keep posting i keep watching :) best o luck
thanks, i built it so far out of spare plywood i had lying around the woodshop. I am only growing autos for now but i made it 4 ft tall in case i want to grow some taller autos or regular strains later. This weekend I am ordering some more seeds for later grows. I am ordering Stuporsonic Auto, Great White Shark Auto, Blue Himalayan Diesel Auto, and Onyx Auto seeds. I am pretty excited about all of those strains! I don't get to smoke cuz they do random drug tests where I work but I am growing for my wife... I can smoke vicariously through her, lol.

now that is shape looking
Thanks, I am glad you like it. I built the box yesterday and today I am going to build the bas up a little around it and put some doors on it. I will probably start to paint it also. Friday night I am ordering the carbon filter, inline fan, and fan for fresh air. after I get all of this stuff installed I will finish lining the cabinet with the reflective insulation. I found the reflective insulation at home depot. It is basically reflective bubble wrap. BTW, I love your avatar!

Why you getting a carb filter for? One or two plants aint gonna smell to bad. Unless you have company over alot.

Anyhow what strain?

i live on the 2nd and 3rd floor of a 3 floor house. my wife and I rent the 2nd and 3rd floors. we also live in town... right now I am germing purple ryder, I this weekend I am ordering Stuporsonic, Blue Himalayin Diesel, Great White Shark, and Onyx, all autos. I some are shorter than others. the purple ryder says they average 10 to 12 inches but i am pushing my space with the stuporsonic which says 1 meter indoors and 1.5 to 2 meters outdoors. I figure since i am only using T5's I should be safe and it may not get to a full 1 meter. ventalation in this house sucks.... wife and her cousin were upstairs smoking for about 10 or 15 minutes and the entire 2nd floor smelled like weed! i figured a carbon filter was a good idea, i really don't wanna get busted!

i got my T5 from a local hydro store. it ran me about $240. it is a sun blaze T5 28... stands for 2ft 8 bulb. It came with a 5 year warrenty. i think they can be found on ebay for a little under $200. it comes with 8 6500K bulbs and I just ordered 4 of the 3000K bulbs for it. i was just going to buy some cheap T5 fixtures at home depot but this was a high output grow light with the reflectors and i just figured I would splurge on the light.

i would have liked to have gone with a 400w HPS but with the confined space i thought it might be hard to keep the temps down

ok, i got some doors on this thing. i put a littl more reflective bubble wrap inside it but still need to cover top. doors, and left side of cabinet. waiting to install hardware on doors and fan and filter inside. magnets help hold doors shut for now. I am a little worried about the seeds i bought. purple ryder seeds have been germing in wet paper towel inside a snuff can for about 29hrs and still haven't sprouted yet... i put them in a burpee seed sprouter kit with little coco pots... and put them in the cabinet with 4 of the 8 bulbs on... hope they will grow.:-(

yea sure...
2 sheets 3/4" plywood 30in X 24in for top & bottom
2 sheets 3/4" plywood 24in X 48in for sides
1 sheet 1/4" plywood, OSB or MDF 48in X 31.5in
1 piece pine or plywood 4 or 5 inches X 46.5in for the upright support in the front, any piece of scrap plywood works well for this
2 sheets 1/2" plywood or whatever thickness you would like to make your doors make doors about 48in X 14in
then cut 2X4's and screw to the bottow on front and sides... leave back open
then put 1 more layer of 2X4's under the 2X4's you just screwed to the bottom. this will lift the cabinet off the ground so the doors don't rub the floor
use 4 or 6 barn style hinges for the doors and put whatever handels you want on the doors. install magnets inside the doors if you want to. this is gonna run you ab out $100 to $150 if you have to buy all this material. line inside with reflective material, i used reflective bubble wrap found in the insulation aisle at home depot
a half pound of 1 5/8" course thread drywall screws and a few 3" drywall screws for the 2X4's on the bottom, reflective tape for the seams in bubble wrap if you want
