purple stems

I had four plants, one is now dead :-(. Now, all of them have purple stems and shade leafs are turning brown and crispy from the older to new leafs. the one that died had this very bad. So, i recieved my ph and moister meter and all of the plants' ph was 7.2-7.8. with that being said i repotted with african violet and organic perlite, with a 2g bigger pot (4g total) and watered it with adding ph down, to about 6. its been about 3 days since ive did this, and it seems like the stems are starting to turn green again and they look pretty healthy and seem to be growing nicely.

info: small grow room about 25x19x4'
foil insulation(i know its not the best)
t5 high output grow lights, 10,000 lumens
4" fresh air intake
6x14 ventilation w/fan
fan blowing on plants (no oscilation):-(
usually between 75 -85 degrees
moisture level in room=unknown
very little nutes....15-30-15 about an 1/8-1/4 cup mixed with distilled water with ph of 6, once every two weeks

havent yet learned how to get pics on here, tryed but failed every time. still in the process of figuring it out, help would be much appreciated.

now, the big questions are......how long should i give it water with ph of 6? should i steadily raise it as it gets better? not sure how to go about these things as this is my first grow.

Another question.....i just bought some Calmag. Just as info,.. how does this help, and how might you apply it? just some random thoughts and some help would be awesome!

purple / red stem = signs of stress.

Is your new meter one of those 2 prong ph/moisture/light things? If so, they are very inaccurate and unreliable.
Water until runoff the ph test that.
I use calmag every other feed 1/2 dose. Add some pearlite, acts as buffer and aids drainage.
More info and pics needed

yes, it is actually. I knew that it was cheap and probably innacurate. But it at least gets me somewhat in the ball park for now till i get enough money too buy a better one. I did add some perlite when i repotted. sorry about pix...still cant upload.... and also what info do ya need? just ask, and thanks for the reply
