Putting plants in darkness to remove chlorophyll?

Does putting plants in darkness during final days of flower increase chlorophyll deterioration?

It's getting to the end of my season and I want to remove chlorophyll from my plant to improve taste.

A close friend with more experience than I told me to cover the plants to make my plant's leaves yellow. Would this be the case?

I'm not asking if it will boost resin production. Just asking if I can increase deterioration of chlorophyll in the final days of flower by using this method?

Thanks!

cover them ? sounds like your going to chance mold . sounds bad to me . now some people say a day of total darkness increases resin production . if your trying to get yellow leaves ? only way is to run straight water with zero nutrients the plants will use up what ever is remaining in them and soil sooner or later get yellow leaves . it could take a month or more to accomplish this depending how hard your pushing the nutrients now before you get yellow leaves . what is troubling me is once your plants get very mature the leaves should start turning yellow naturally . share some pictures so we can give you better answers for what your trying to accomplish

The only way to improve taste is through adding nutrients that will enhance the terpene profile or a proper dry and cure. Putting your plant in the dark can help it finish a little faster and boost resi production but clorophyll is the substance found in the leafs of your plant, not the buds. You're not smoking chemicals no matter what anyone tells you. Just dry and cure right and your weed will taste fresh and fine.

Don't tell him to flush, flushing is a myth and only serves to deprive your plants of nutrients during a big part of their life.

I am not telling him to flush . he is asking to make yellow leaves . from my understanding . I am betting his plant is far from mature and he will harvest much to early if feeding them properly the leaves will start to lose color slightly . unless he is feeding it beyond the suggest amount then I did suggest running plain water . like I s aid we need a picture to give a accurate answer .

Chlorophyll is present in the buds also not just the leaves.."you're not smoking chemicals no matter what anyone tells you" who said anything about chemicals? Where did this even come from lmao

If you believe adding nutes to your plants will improve taste, you've been LIED to. Adding products does NOT add any kind of flavors. Lol. If it does, please do a test on one plant with say faygo (your desired flavor of choice) theu veg and flower and report back. Sweeteners ONLY help feed the microbes, which break down nutes easier for root uptake, which helps grow bigger, healthier plants, which give you bigger buds. NOTHING MORE.

Don't, rather stop drinking the MF kool-aid folks.

Wow lots of misinformation in this post.

Good cure, however if u grow organically u will probably find that ur weed will smoke smooth after the first sweat in the jar. I love fresh terpeny weed.

I keep my plants in the dark when they are ready to harvest only if I don't have time to deal with them right away, up to 3 days for me, never noticed any difference.

Because this discussion pops up a lot. People go "Oh well if I don't flush my plants then the chemicals I was feeding them with will be present in the buds."

That isn't the case, regardless of where chlorophyll is flushing is just plain proven wrong and you shouldn't do it.

I misspoke when I said chlorophyll was absent in the buds but flushing the plant isn't going to rid your plant of this issue, only a proper dry and cure can rid weed of any harshness.

I haven't even said anything besides misspeaking on one fact. I don't claim to know anything I only share what little knowledge I have. I shared that and you're welcome to dispute it but by trying to attack my character and say I'm just one of those people you're setting up both a strawman and ad hominem attacks, rather than disproving what I'm saying you're attacking me to make me look less credible...which is what dumb people do. You. You're dumb.

Go smoke some weed and chill out.

What is wrong with what I said? (besides no chlorophyll in buds I was wrong on that one.)

I said a proper dry and cure or the use of additives to bring out flavor profiles, which both are true. @Dr. Who even gave me a homemade sweet and raw mix formula for said terpenes. He's a pretty legit users...so is he misinformed too?

I don't have the proof of putting your plant in darkness to help it finish faster/boost resin production but that is what long time users of this site who have many successful grows have informed me. And as far as the chemicals bit go I was using is colloquially as many new users think they have to flush their plants to rid their final product of impurities or "chemicals" from whatever additives they were using. Which isn't the case because the plant stores nutrients in it's roots so you're never going to be smoking the FF Trio you watered your plants with, which some people think is the case.

I'd like you, instead of just telling me I'm wrong, to tell me why I am wrong. Show me exactly where what I said is wrong and I'll admit but your little copout comments don't cut it when it comes to actual discussion, if I'm wrong let's talk about it I'd love to learn something today fella.

LMFAO

Pour faygo in your pots in you think additives gives your buds flavors. It's all dependant on the strain. Holy fuck, this has been discussed more than topping or fimming.

I didn't say gives buds flavor enhances. It's possible to bring out the flavor of a strain but you're right you can't just give a bud flavor. Not without spraying it with something and that is generally frowned upon.

Just go back and READ my post and contemplate what it says before jumping to conclusions. I clearly typed "can bring out flavor profiles" not anything about adding them. I swear I think most of the users of RIU aren't used to reading more than a few sentences at a time.

Bigger healthier buds would generally lead to a more robust and full flavor once the product was cured right?

Bud size has nothing to do with flavor. Strain and genetics do.

The reason we don't read the entire post, as most are filled with bull shit and misconceptions.
