Quantum ballast - does dimming affect bulb output/life?

Hi all,

I've just purchased a new 1000w Quantum digital ballast with this nifty 50/75/100% "dimming" feature. I was curious if anyone has experience with this ballast and whether the dimming affects the bulb longevity or output drop-off over time. I'm using a Hortilux EYE HPS bulb with this ballast.

This is their site:

Any experience you can share would be great, thanks. :eyesmoke:

I emailed them this same question, they are apparently carrying out tests on bulb longevity. It doesn't matter much given that you change it regularly enough anyhow, but I'm curious about lumen drop-off over time if you are cycling between 50-100% daily or even weekly.

I also asked about their ANSI rating so I'll post that when I find out, if no one else beats me to it. :)
