Firstly, i'd like to say this is my first grow so please excuse my cluelessness.
I've gone the hydroponics route and I've opted for Dutchmaster Gold Range nutrients. I've got a 50L tank. So I've used the nutrient calculator on the Dutchmaster web site to work out the nutrients required. These results of which can be found here... http://www.dutchmaster.com.au/nutrient_calculator_result.php?Nutrient=Gold_Range_NUTRIENT&Gold_Range_ADD27=y&Gold_Range_SILICA=y&Gold_Range_ZONE=y&Grow_Weeks=3&Flower_Weeks=6&Meter_Type=CF&Custom_Conversion_Factor=&Tank_Size_Unit_Type=Litres&Tank_Size=50&STANDARD=y
The water I'm starting with gives me a CF reading of between 4-6. My understanding is that, because the nutrients directions are based on water with a CF of 0, my target CF needs to be increased by about 5. The nutrient calculator gave me a target CF of 8 so that means my target CF should be around 13.
Now after adding the nutrients in the quantities specified by the nutrient calculator I'm getting a CF reading of 32. I'm a bit confused why the CF is 3x higher than it should be given I used the correct amount of nutrients. Can somebody please tell me if this is normal? Or am I doing something silly? Also am I correct in thinking that now I need to add water until my CF reading goes down to 13?
Thanks in advance for your help.
