Question about flowering???

Okay, I have a question about flowering. Strains mature in 8 - 10 weeks, right? So here is my question, is the first week after you go 12/12 considered the first week of flowering or is it pre-flowering? For example if a strain is suppose to mature in eight weeks does the first week of pre-flowering count toward the eight weeks or is it actually nine weeks because of the first week of pre-flowering?

Depends on when you flip to 12/12.

If you do it too soon, the 8-10 week strain will probably take longer by a couple weeks+.

I flip to 12/12 after 3 weeks of veg time on average, and I usually get my advertised flower times in most phenos, more than 1/2, and also depending where the seeds came from.

Some places advertise 9 weeks, but goes an extra week or 2....

you start counting the days as soon as you flip to 12/12.
actually i flip to 13/11 but you get the idea ;)

the days shown for a strain by its breeder are just an average timeline.. and some are just bullshit
the plant tells you when its done.. you just have to learn how to read it.

good luck

A microscope or a loupe will tell when.

Indeed...

I've been growing since 1992-93, and have grown tons of strains, and have learned each plant behaves differently than the next, once you know the characteristics of your gal, you'll know when she's ready.

Generally though, all that we discussed above all applies as a general rule.

turned pistils and swelled calyxs too :)
