Question about HPS powering

Hey whats up once again. I'm just wondering, because I have CFL's but there growing very slow... If I were to purchase an HPS... this is for one plant only... How do you power it? Do you plug it into a wall outlet? Or what? And also, whats the cheapest setup I could get, and for someone with 0 dollars and no job, would it be worth it to get? I'm saying like...absoluetly no money. Please help!
 
with HID lights you need a ballast and then there is a socket and reflector you can find a cheap setup online or you can get a friend that grows that has some extra supply's around
 
Yeah... The friend thing wont work :( , but me and my buddy each have 50$ for amazon... So if we go in together we got 100 bucks. Would that be enough for a small setup for 1 plant?
 
no! a 100$ isnt going to cut it,you will need about $230 for light ballast ,and reflector they usually come with bulbs ,save your duckets and do it right.youll be stoked that you did. get it from a hydro shop so everything is guaranteed. and you would be getting a 600 hps for that price.a $100 will buy you a killer bulb.sorry but your half way there with the $100. just keep saving it will pay itself off. good luck!

When I first started I was told, "Yea, all you need is a light." Yea, right! The equipment stuff adds up real quick.

What about the Mylar or Panda to maximize the light... and then a timer... and extension cords... and a fan....

Use this grow exercise as fruitful practice. Plant outside until you can save up for decent equipment.
 
Hey thanks for all the posts guys.. Yeah, well this is my first grow... and I don't have money, and would rather save for other things. The CFL's should work, and if not, its still a nice experience. I wanted to plant over summer, but I couldn't wait so I figured why not try? Thanks for the posts!
 
You have a few options.insidesun.com has 400 watt complete system for about $149 that would be more then enough nad if you wanna up the plants youyr good for the future.. Maryland Hydroponics has $99 digital ballast but you have to buy the bulbs,reflector and socket..You can up the cfls grow and get a 250 watt actual wattage cfl for about $90 in a reflector on ebay new.Just plug it in and go.
 
We'll.... I can't really use my credit card, but as I said, I already have 100$ to amazon.. I guess that wont help... I used to play a game called RuneScape for like 3 years. I was amazing at it..got stoned, played all day... anyway... I'm going to sell all my accounts and money and all for roughly 250 bucks on paypal (what a fag)...so then I'll upgrade :P im stoned haha peace
 
use the 100 to get some good grow books.. that 8oz for under 100$ book would be good if you want to use cfls
