Question about lights!!

So my plant sprouted, and has 4 leaves, 2 sets. I have soft white lights on them now. What is the difference between soft white and daylight? I know it has something to do with the spectrum, but basically im asking what stage should i use daylight and what stage do i use soft white?

Soft white bulbs have a color temperature of about 2700K and "daylight" bulbs have a color temp of about 6500k. Higher numbers are generally more blue, while lower numbers are usually more red. You can search Google images for a color temperature scale if you want to see. Redder lights are usually better for flowering and bluer lights are often better for veg.

I am assuming you are using CFL's? If you have a walmart by you, most carry the Lights of America brand CFLs for $.92 a piece, blue box is daylight 6500k, great for veg... and the orange box is soft white 2700k, great for flowering. Cheap, and fits nicely in Y socket adapters. Best of luck!
