Question about my HPS

I i just purchased a 400watt HPS for my 5 plants and i wanted to know how far away i should hang it from the plants. It gets pretty warm under it so i imagine not to close. Also do i water my soil everyday with FoxFarm Grow Big or spray the foliage with the GrowBig and water once a week, becuase i think i may have heard that from someone? Ill get some new pictures up soon.

you can test how hot it is by putting your hand on top of the plant,if it is comfortable and doesnt burn your good to go.you should blow a fan across the top of the canopy so you could have the light closer,be careful of spray feeding nutes when the light is on,you can damage the leaf with burns.you sure dont want to water every day,let those roots spread out in search of water.later when they use more water and nutes you will have to keep an eye for when they need water and food.

oh let the plants get used to the intensity of the hps,then slowly lower it,ive never had a 400 but ive had a 600 a foot away.

Trapper has it right thats the easiest way to do it. I have 2 600 watt lights about 8 inches from the tops but they are on a mover so they dont sit in that position to long as they move back and forth about an hour round trip.Id probably stop misting the plants thought as that can cause burns from the lights or nute burns and can clog the leaves if over done

trust him on this one!! I made the mistake of misting the leaves when the light was on and over watering. Education makes great smoke!!!!!!!
