Question concerning watering

So I've seen on a few sites that they recommend letting your water sit for 24 hours uncovered before watering your plants. They said that if you have city water then you def want to do this. I was wondering if everyone does this? Or do you just walk over to the tap, fill a jug and water. Just not really sure I need to be letting water sit around for my "girls".

Thanks

use bottled mineral water which is usually 7.0ph (neutral).
if you look at the label it tells you the mineral contents and the ph level.
if you want to use tap water as i did on my first grow you need a water testing ph kit thats available at any pet/fish store then test your water and if its between 6.5-7.0 ph then its good to use but always water/feed your plants with water a room temprature(not cold water or hot).
and i have never let my water sit out its a myth.

Awesome I don't know as I'll use the bottled water as it seems at it might be a little pricey to do. I will def get the ph water testing kit. Thanks for the advice..

if you live in the US, there are very tight water restrictions. you can use tap water, anything that is safe for you to drink is safe for your plants. Most people let the water sit in an open container for 24 hours so the chrlorine will evaporate. bottled/drinking water is great but it can get pricey and I've heard mj plants like the micronutrients in tap water.

Leaving water sit helps get rid of chlorine. I run water straight tap water with my nutes. Tap water is great for micro nutrients which ro and distilled and most nutes don't contain. Chlorine will not hurt the plants. I have dipped many aquarium plants into chlorine (a 1/2 cup to a gallon)to kill snails, algae and other crap I didn't want in my fish tank. People put h2o2 in their tanks and it doesn't hurt the plants but it sure does kill all kinds of beneficial bacteria. It's all a personal choice but no tap water will not hurt your plants. Do you drink the water and are you still alive?

even the cheap store brands of mineral/spring water are good for use and will tell you the ph on the label.
(you can buy multi packs as i do and it costs around 6-10$ for 8 litres).

sounds reasonable, I guess if I can drink it then it's okay to give to the plants. makes complete sense....... :hump::hump::hump::hump:

when i grew in soil i just used water straight from the tap... never had any issues...

now that i am running a hydro setup i run my water through a filter before adding it to the reservoir.. but i dont let it sit before using it...

you can get ahold of a complete break down of your water from your water department if you want to know whats in it...

letting the chlorine evaporate out is good if you have a high concentration of it in your water... the chlorine can harm your plants if its in a high enough concentration..

everyones water breaks down different as all water companies use different methods to clean their water.. or different chemicals.. leading to a different TDS break down...

LOL You can drink Pepsi too but I wouldn't recommend giving it to your plants.
Your body doesn't like tap water, it has fluoride/chlorine in it, let it sit open for about 24 hours to evap the chems.

Don't use distilled water, I dont know why but weed doesn't like it nearly as well and it very much lacks any micronutirents since it is sterile.

I do use straight tap water in a pince tho, but my water actually is very decent as far as that goes, so I'm lucky.

Best bet, let it set for 24 hours.
besides water is best at room temp so it doesn't shock the roots when you water.
Good luck to ya

no need to leave the water sitting to remove chlorine.

Go get a goldfish. If the thing can live in your tap water, it's fine for your plants. I do mean straight from the tap too. There is very little chlorine in the water by the time it gets out the tap. Ask the local fish stores about the tap water. Sure they will tell you to put dechlore in it but it's really not needed. The experienced fish people will know that. If you really want to learn about water get into salt water, and try to recreate the ocean in a small 100 gallon tank. Remember it is just a weed we are growing. Were not going to the moon. If you can drink the water, the plants will live! Sure you can always upgrade but it's not necessary. Sure I would love to go to the store in a Cadillac but for some reason the ford always gets the job done!

I make water:

In other words I fill buckets and keep them aerated with a cheapo air pump, so they don't get stale like pond water.

Or you can just let it sit out 8 - 24 hrs - for the chlorine to dissipate - and use it right away

Some cities use chlorimine which doesn't dissipate.
