Question for anyone growing for more than a year... Enthusiasm still there?

I'm wondering if any of you guys are starting to feel like growing as a hobby is starting to feel like more of a chore than anything else?

If you exclude the end product, and not having to find herb anymore for personal consumption...... are you still having fun with it?

It takes up 2 hours every single day , the space i work in is cramped , it is hassle and risky , and i fookin love it , its my space , my area and where my shit goes on.

Never gets boring. It's a fun chore. It's almost as fun as mowing with the riding mower blazed off your ass. There are so many different things you can do with the lights, nutes, clones, breeding. Scrog, lst, topping. bending, breaking, twisting. If you are getting bored with it just change it up a bit. Experiment.

im just back in the game after getting busted, i sat without plants for about 6 months. i was still in here chatting with the guys but i felt like a pervert peeing thru windows because i had nothing goin on. ive been growing for a few years and it was hard as hell no having anything on the go. so its a most emphatic yes, the bug is still there although i'd agree with highlowgrow that you should change stuff now and then to keep interest sharp; im a soil grower but right now ive got 4 dwcs and 3 soil.

The act of growing, of perfecting the results and keeping them healthy is at least as much fun as the actual end harvest

I'll probably continue to grow at least on some level for a while. As I still enjoy it somewhat, and even if I hated it, simply having the end product makes it worth it.

But, like you mentioned, there are a TON of things I still don't know, and things I haven't tried, but I don't know if I have the enthusiasm to get into it.

Who knows, maybe my next home project might be home brewing my own beer? :)

Hell yea!! I've been growing for 7 years now.. if not longer than that.. and I still love it.

I don't look at it as a chore.. and any grower that does, IMO... doesn't have the true love and passion for growing like myself and many other growers have.

If it becomes to feel like its a chore.. you should take a break from it. Just my opinion though...

peace.

For me this is all about the growing and learning. Everything else is just icing on the cake. When people tell me I can learn just as well by growing something legal, I just shake my head. How do you explain this fascination with Cannabis?

i can understand it becoming a chore at times though but in my experience its usually because after you start growing at first and developing a true love of the process you can sumtimes go a little overboard; you buy every light, pot, nute and snake oil available, you attempt to grow as much as possible because you know you can make cash and you know its not that difficult and as a result u end up over-reaching yourself and it starts feeling like fuckin full time employement. ive done it too, the greed got to me along with the thought that if i'm gonna get busted it may as well be for sumthin worth fucking talking about! after being busted i've reined in the horses, packed my extra gear away to another location, and now im just workin with 1 small grow, and its a style relatively new to me(dwc), so now its manageable, a learning experience and if my door comes in i'm still only gettin a possession rap and not a trafficking one, and as my other gear is in storage i can start back up again. if your bored take a break.

I have been growing for 9 months now and it is just getting better and better. Each time I learn more, and because all growing kits are really expensive where I live I have been buying my gear just one by one every month when I get paid. I now have a pretty good setup, next time I want to buy an aeroponic system :) It's really growing on me hehe, I'm so glad I found this hobby, hope the cops wont ruin it for me!

i started growing indoors in the mid 90s. after the first few times, i went into automatic and i would get annoyed that they needed water yet again! trimming 16 plants worth of buds was fun the first time. now it's, NOOOOOO! i'm so spoiled! lol

this feeling of it being a chore comes and goes over the years. i'm kind of motivated at the moment. this too shall pass! :)

I still totally love growing! I've been growing for 3 summers now, every year I try to go more organic. All nature remedies against pests and disease. All natural biological nutrients (bat guano for flowering is great!) Every year I learn more.

I also grow other herbs for fun. And when I have this delicious fruit (grapes, papaya, cherries, etc..) I take the seeds and collect them for when I have a garden to plant them in.

Maybe when I'm an expert in organic growing I'll move on to hydroponic.

I do think that it is more fun when you go natural, grow outside in the sun. Less hassle. And I never have more than two plants.

If I were to take a break, I would feel sick. I feel obligated to keep something in my cab. I used to keep it packed, but lately I just keep at least one plant going at all times. I'm trying to get back into it, so with the one mature girl I have in there, I have to dixie cups going as I am going to try to keep it more stocked again.

Maybe it is because I have moved my cab out of my room, into the basement, and switched my light schedule by 12 hours? So now not only is my cab no where near me, I seldom interact with it as the lights are ON when I am SLEEP. I used to constantly mess with them, and stare in the cab at times, but now I rarely do much beyond what I need to do to keep things growing.

I probably used to spend ON AVERAGE 30 mins a day messing with them(sometimes more sometimes less). Now it's probably down to about 5 minutes/day doing what needs to get done.

Just last night, I had to tie down two of the girls in the Dixie Cups and it felt like a chore.

Of course looking at my mature plant, it is gorgeous and will actually wind up being my best plant I've grown to date when it is done, so I guess that makes it all worth while.

But still.....

Good perspective here.

I do something similar with my watering now. I use grow bags for my soil. I used to water a bit at a time, and it took quite a while. Now what I have done, is create a cardboard box, lined with plastic that my grow bag sits in. Now to water, I just dump about a half gallon into the box, and let the plant absorb it as it wants. It's the best thing I have come up with since I started growing. It makes watering sooooo much easier.
