Question for flood table users!!! ++Rep

Hey guys, I am in the middle of a new grow room set up (check my sig) and am looking into the possibility of running flood tables instead of soil. I already ordered 3.75" net pots to replicate a flood table like user tat2ue...

Anyway, when using net pots and Hydroton or similar medium, how high do I want my table to flood? Should it fully soak the pot? Just the bottom? What is the general rule of thumb when using net pots?

Thanks in advance guys!

i do ebb and flow, the faster you flood the more stale air is pushed from the clay, and the faster drain sucks in fresh air. 3/4 way up the clayballs is about right, as there are little or no roots higher than that anyway.

flood times will obviously depent on your pump, only you can time that one! I flood 6 times per 18hrs and 4 when in 12/12

Perfect answer. +Rep...One more question. How do you first determine how often or how many times a day to flood? Thanks again

I veg in 5 inch net pots in a 2x4 tray filled usualy about 40 plants then i take the 30 i like ( the rest go in soil into my buddys grow tent). Then i have a 2x4 tray with lid with holes in a 3x5 pattern fill tray with hydroton place the lid drop in net pots. Have two trays under a 1k hps and it works really well for me usualy over 1g/watt

the first time i tried it i was doing a flood every 2 hours! ended up with some dodgy damp roots as they were not getting enough air time. trial and error i suppose but my setup is working perfectly now;)

i run three small flood trays, You can use any sort of container you want. If it sticks too far out of the tray you can just run drip lines to the top of the pot..

The plants will tell you how often to water, but it really depends on the plants age and the medium you are using. So far I have only tried coco mat and rock wool slabs. Good luck and let us know JR
